i caught up on game of thrones over the long holiday weekend, and now i am sort of obsessed with jon snow's hair.

#HPMKT- a visit with w. schillig usa

(yup, two months later, i'm finally getting a chance to do a market recap post!)

ok, did you gasp like i did when schillig's US head guy, david stewart, walked on that gorgeous sectional?   i could hear my mom yelling at me to "keep off the furniture- if you want to play on something, go outside!" and trust, no damage was done- here we are chillaxing on the same sectional, moments later:

sturdy, yet comfortable!  the curved end cushions hugged me and didn't want to let me go... (and thanks to material girl jill seidner for taking some the pictures for this post!)

one thing i learned while visiting schillig (my sponsor for this april's market) was that not only is their furniture comfortable and stylish, it is all built like a tank... a precision, german engineered tank! i mean seriously, would you walk on your sofa? and schilling takes their german enginrering seriously! look at look at these details would ya?

i am cracking up here because there is a hidden button in the seams of the sofa cushions that controls the foot and headrests- i told you, this is german engineering at it finest!

yes, electronic controls mean the sofa needs electricity to be used, but you can still float schilling's pieces in the middle of the room because they are offered with battery packs, which are charged via this sleek lil chrome outlet. hawt.

all the visible working parts are chrome-plated and beautiful  no ugly clunky black metal mechanisms that should be kept hidden at schillig!

what is kept hidden is the amazing engineering inside every cushion....

even the top stitching is precise

just because it's well engineered, doesn't mean it's not stylish either. love the chanel inspired stitching  on this sofa.

not everything in the showroom is robot motion furniture- loved this simple cantilevered (and springy) breuer inspired chaise. this one wanted to come home with me, bad.

also loved these rocking chaises- available in single, double and triple seaters.

another piece that caught my eye was this bed with movable headboards, because sometimes you just have to float a bed in a room, and this will allow it to be done stylishly (and with versatility).

and how about this sectional which converts into a bed- or is it a bed that converts to a sectional?

whichever it is, it coverts hands free ,as david kicked it into shape!

and yes, i heard my mom yelling again- "don't kick the furniture!" ;-)

save friday!

this is friday, a sweet, young energetic pit bull pup, who through no fault of his own, ended up in the south los angeles animal shelter. a neighbor came to me hoping i could help him find friday a permanent home, but before i could, animal control intervened and the pup was taken to the shelter.  where he is one of dozens of pit bulls,  meaning sadly, this happy boy is likely to go unnoticed, and thus in danger of being killed.  since i met friday in person, i know he is a gentle giant, someone's former pet and basically just a big happy pup in need of love and a little training. sadly, other people visiting the shelter may see a big, 77 lb male pitbull who might have been a stray or a fighter, and never think of him for adoption.  he can be put down at anytime. i can't let that happen.

so friday needs our help. if you know anyone who might want him, or anyone who can foster him, PLEASE put them in touch with the shelter. his ID is #A1402059, and if a qualified non-profit rescue group agrees to take him on as a foster, he also comes with about a $1000 worth of pledges (for obvious reasons, this offer is not open to individuals), so any rescue, please get in touch with me personally.

friday has his own facebook page, to make him easy to share, so please help me save this boy's life!

ps: while friday has me to help network him, so many other pets don't. next door to friday was bella (#A1398916), an owner surrendered lab/pit mix who was so desperate for attention, she literally flattened her entire body against the the bars of her cage and quivered in anticipation of being petted, and in the cat room kittens were literally trying to crawl through the wires of their cages to come out to play with me. so heartbreaking. PLEASE make adoption your first option!

UPDATE: friday was rescued by the smiling dog rescue in tucson AZ, and is available for adoption! arizonans, get on this!

m21 featured on domaine!

just wanted to say thanks to the nice peeps over at domaine, who were sweet enough to feature my california home + design showhouse bath as the lead in their story about the "dazzle camo" trend (go to their site if you are curious to find out out the heck "dazzle camo" is). since i started planning the bath almost a year ago, and had NO idea there even was such a trend, i'm especially honored to be included.  does this make me a trendsetter? hmmmm....
