PLEASE READ THIS TEAM SNAPCHAT!!!!! snapchat is one of the best apps to communicate with your friends, share your thoughts and content and overall have fun. one problem that i think everyone can agree with me on is the removal of the snapchat games. i think i can speak on everybody that uses snapchats behalf that the snapchat games were one of my favourite features of snapchat that snapchat decided to remove! one of the last but MAJOR negative points is the bitmojis. i am definite that not a single user on snapchat is happy with the new “realistic” bitmojis. the bitmojis help us represent ourselves and snapchat making them look dehumanised is not okay. please bring back the old bitmojis. my last negative point is the new snapchat ai. i understand that the new snapchat ai is used for good purposes but i can 100% speak on everyones behalf that it is scary and no matter how hard you try to remove it, it is just there. now off to the good things, my first positive point is that i definitely recommend this app if you want a fast and simple to way to chat and send photos to your friends. snapchat also treats the information you give them with respect and full protection which means the app gives you privacy. you can also see when someone screenshots or saves something which is good to help protect anything that you send or someone else sends which brings me to my next point, it is secure and if you send something on accident it is really easy to remove. I’ve been using Snapchat for over a year at this point and there are some super important things that people need to know. 1: the concept of “streaks” of days when photos are sent by both people is openly manipulating people into engaging with the app and doesnt lead to any serious conversations, as well as people genuinely freaking out when they lose a streak. 2: on the free version of the app, there is an absurd amount of ads (literally in your message feeds). I understand that’s how people make money but that is a ridiculous addition. 3: because the app is pretty anonymous, there are a lot of scammers compared to competing apps and I don’t think Snapchat does a great job of following up on reports compared to just how many there are. 4: as a messaging service and an image sharing service it falls flat in comparison to other competitors (e.g. instagram and WhatsApp) because saving messages isn’t the default option, and video calling on the same networks has consistently been lower quality (maybe due to higher network usage) than instagram, WhatsApp and ordinary FaceTime. 5: in the current mental health issue- ridden climate, Snapchat filters are creating a lot of insecurity in the people I have interacted with (including my fiancé who is an objectively attractive person) In summary this app does have some nice fun pieces (for example bitmojis and the ease of voice messages) but feels inferior at best and openly toxic at worst, especially for teens like myself.

Snapchat is a great app to talk to your friends and I spend a lot of time on the app, not going to deny that. But in behalf of the snap community, the new bitmoji update is absolutely horrendous. I understand Snapchat’s intent to make the bitmojis more realistic, but this time is a new low. It is absolutely horrifying and the proportions are so bad! The face looks horrible and I feel that I cannot relate to my bitmoji anymore. The poses are awkward and the snap map is so ugly! I used to love snap map (after the update) because it was the only place on snap that kept the “originality”. But now that’s been updated too which I am very unhappy about. The only way to get back to the old bitmojis is to sign out and back in, but that only lasts for a couple of minutes. If you are going to update the bitmojis, at least give Snapchatters a say, and give them an option to select which option they prefer. The bitmojis are a huge part of Snapchat, but this new update is putting me off the app. Please, Snapchat, take in your feedback from users and change the bitmojis back. You’re going to lose users if you aren’t taking feedback. I have submitted several requests and feedback suggestions, but I feel that I need to publish this. There have been so many tweets, reports and articles outlining the disgust of Snapchat users. Listen to them! The app in an aspect of talking and socialising is 4 stars, but the new updates are a 2. Overall, Snapchat please listen to your users feedback.
