Suggestion: Make profile verification mandatory at Account creation process to minimize fake account

As a Manual QA Tester and a regular user, I would like to suggest an improvement that could significantly enhance the security, trustworthiness, and overall user experience of Happn.Currently, profile verification is optional, which allows a considerable number of fake accounts to be created using random or stolen photos. Many fraudulent users take advantage of this by misleading genuine members, redirecting conversations to other social media platforms, requesting personal photos, or even attempting financial scams.My suggestion is to make profile verification mandatory during account creation. This would help ensure that every new account belongs to a real person, greatly reducing the number of fake profiles on the platform.Additionally, if a verified user later replaces their verified photos with images that do not match the original verification data, the account could be automatically restricted or temporarily frozen until a re-verification process is completed. Users could then submit an appeal if necessary.Implementing these measures would increase user confidence, improve platform safety, reduce fraudulent activity, and strengthen Happn’s reputation as a secure and genuine place to build meaningful connections, friendships, and relationships.I hope the development team considers this suggestion. This is a perfect example of “don’t try to fix something that’s not broken in the first place”. I’m a paid member and been using happn for quite a while now. My experience here has been mixed till now. A couple of years ago the “crossings” were a lot more and consistent, but it seems to be dwindling now. I’m not sure if it’s a bug or something but I only cross paths nearby my home but if I am travelling, it’ll not show any crossings. I highly doubt there are no users other than the ones close to my home. My location settings are set to “always on”, yet no results. Moreover, post covid it seems 99% of the females have found a new way to scam/extort in the name of “dating” and “relationships” and despite reporting such profiles, hardly anything specific is done by guys at happn. The least that can be done is to make verifying the pics mandatory. Finally, I’m not sure if it’s a n iOS thing or in general but the app used to hang and crash sometimes but since the latest update it has only become worse. Will consider giving a better rating if the issues are resolved.

Frustrating Experience with Constant Hangs

I’ve been using HPPN for a while now, and I’m honestly disappointed with its overall performance. The app is extremely sluggish—simple tasks take forever to load, and the responsiveness is just not there. The biggest issue is the chat feature, which constantly hangs or freezes completely. Chat feature never works even after force-closed and restart.This kind of instability makes it hard to rely on HPPN for anything serious. It feels like the app isn’t optimized properly, and there are no regular updates addressing these performance problems. For something that’s supposed to be a communication tool, it fails at the most basic level: letting people chat smoothly.Would not recommend it in its current state unless major improvements are made.

Literally ruined my mental peace

The app is no doubt filled with scammers and I have no idea how the developers can’t implement further strict verification systems in order to prevent scammers from joining the app and spoofing their locations from one state to the other…. My experience with this app has been the worst 95% matches being scammers and one being so good at it that she ended up convincing me to call her on WhatsApp and immediately video calling me and even though I ended the call in less than 5 seconds the damage to my reputation has been done the scammer plays a video of a girl stripping and the moment I saw that I ended the call for a few reasons first ethically I don’t like getting intimate with anyone second I don’t treat women as objects and third I clearly understood the motive but the scammer needed that few seconds to record a video with false allegations I have faced plenty of scammers like this on the app and will be taking matters up with IT Cell…. As a word of suggestion to the developers implement stricter security walls the amount of mental trauma this has given is literally unbearable
