Initially, I had some reservations about this application due to its lack of sound from the host computer, prompting me to deduct a star. However, upon reaching out, I received a prompt response directing me to the fine print on the product page where this limitation was disclosed. It's worth noting that this information wasn't readily apparent in the support pages or easily discoverable through the search function.Putting the sound issue aside, this app excels in its primary function of connecting to another computer. Among the limited options available for native VisionOS apps, this one stands out as the most reliable in my experience. Although the initial setup posed some challenges, particularly in configuring my router to facilitate the connection, taking the time to carefully follow the instructions resolved any issues.Since then, I've found great utility in using this app to connect to multiple computers seamlessly. Despite the initial hurdles, the smooth operation and versatility of this application have made it a valuable addition to my toolkit.
Tailscale Integration on Screens 5

I've used Screens 4 (and now the current Screens 5 solution) for years to remotely control my other computers from both my Mac and iPhone. It's become an essential part of my workflow for accessing my home machines while traveling or checking on servers without being physically there - I love it!The initial setup can take a little effort—connecting remotely sometimes requires configuring ports, firewalls, or alternatives… but the developers provide excellent, detailed documentation and support if you get stuck. Once everything is connected, it just works reliably and smoothly.What really drives Screens 5 to ‘outstanding’ is the built-in Tailscale integration. It makes secure & hassle-free remote access from anywhere incredibly simple. There’s no messing with router forwarding, dynamic DNS, or complex VPN setups. Pairing it with Tail scale creates a private network between my devices, and Screens connects seamlessly using those Tailscale IPs. The performance is snappy, with great rendering, low latency, and native-feeling controls on iPhone and Mac.The app feels modern and well-optimized for Apple's ecosystem (universal across iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc.), and features like iCloud sync for connections, adaptive quality, and customizable toolbars make daily use a pleasure. If you're looking for a solid, privacy-focused VNC/remote desktop solution, Screens 5 is hard to beat.

Great for remote connection

I’ve been using Screens since I had a new iPad 2, and it’s been consistently reliable for remote connection to my Mac at home or work in all that time. Probably my most memorable experience was in taking a final online for a class I needed to complete a BA degree when I’d already been accepted to a graduate program. The test was via a Flash app, so, as I was away from home, I used a browser (Mac-only) that could emulate Flash on my MacBook Pro via Screens to take the test. I was in downtown Berkeley at the time and cellular reception was not optimal (NIMBY stuff), and there was no wireless where I was. Using Screens I was able to complete the final (graded A), the class (also an A), obtain the BA I thought I’d earned years before (clerical non-communication didn’t inform me), and head off to a graduate program in Boston and eventually Oxford. Screens made my graduate experience possible, quite literally.

It’s been over a year since my last review, and things have only gotten better. Connection is easy and great. I love this product. It enables me to work off my computer in New Jersey while in Central America. PRIOR REVIEW: I gotta hand it to them, they mastered what so many companies cannot seem to do - MASTERED CUSTOMER SERVICE. Have a problem? Email them and you will receive a prompt response. The response has been helpful each time I had a question. The product itself enables me to work remotely from anywhere in the world.
