- Oppose. The German name is Kühl. It is only Kuehl when lazily transliterated into English (or in the days before we could easily reproduce umlauts). -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:34, 2 September 2026 (UTC)
- Also oppose, since Kühl is the original form, but I want to push back on Necrothesp's claim here. Kuehl may be a transliteration of Kühl, but the transliterated form has come into use as the primary spelling for some families in the USA. There are families with the surname Kuehl who are distinctly not Kühl. In fact, it might be fair to say the Kuehl can be a transliteration of Kühl, but it can also be a separate surname that derives its origins from Kühl. – Ike Lek (talk) 22:46, 4 September 2026 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. The majority name form should be indeed represented by the name page's main title header and the Kühl name page has three entries for "Kühl" and six entries for "Kuehl". As an alternative option, would support transferring the six "Kuehl" entries to the Kuhl name page or, as another alternative option, would support merging all nine entries on the Kühl name page into the 11-name Kuhl name page in the same manner that the Weiss (surname) page combines both "Weiss" and "Weiß" or the Kruger surname page combines "Krüger", "Krueger" and "Kruger". —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 09:08, 6 September 2026 (UTC)
- I'd merge Kühl into Kuhl, they are obviously variants of the same name.--Ortizesp (talk) 13:10, 18 September 2026 (UTC)
- Split Kuehl out to a separate page. Whatever their common origins, they are now two separate names that are not interchangeable. It doesn't make sense that Kühl and Kuhl are separate pages but Kuehl is not. Station1 (talk) 18:46, 18 September 2026 (UTC)
