But what if you could let some\u00adone else expe\u00adri\u00adence your dreams first-hand? The group of inde\u00adpen\u00addent film\u00admak\u00aders behind this year\u2019s&nbsp;<em>collective:unconscious<\/em> (not to be con\u00adfused with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Collective:Unconscious\">the New York artist group of almost the same name<\/a>) have put their wak\u00ading heads togeth\u00ader to come as close as pos\u00adsi\u00adble to doing just that.&nbsp;Daniel Patrick Car\u00adbone, Josephine Deck\u00ader,&nbsp;Lau\u00adren Wolk\u00adstein,&nbsp;Frances Bodomo, and Lily Bald\u00adwin have cre\u00adat\u00aded a port\u00adman\u00adteau film by adapt\u00ading one anoth\u00ader\u2019s dreams for the screen, which&nbsp;you can dream along with them by <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/178011614\">watch\u00ading free on Vimeo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remem\u00adber back when I was a teen, watch\u00ading <em>Mul\u00adhol\u00adland Dri\u00adve<\/em> for the first time in the the\u00adater,\u201d writes&nbsp;<em>collective:unconscious<\/em>\u2019 pro\u00adduc\u00ader Dan Schoen\u00adbrun in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/2016\/08\/dan-schoenbrun-gives-movie-collective-unconscious-away-free-1201712250\/\">an essay on the mak\u00ading of the film at Indiewire<\/a>. \u201cI remem\u00adber my mind being blown. I remem\u00adber think\u00ading, \u2018Movies can do that?\u2019&nbsp;\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"oc-center-da\">\n<div data-fuse=\"22871471544\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>David Lynch has made his name with pic\u00adtures,&nbsp;<em>Mul\u00adhol\u00adland Dri\u00adve<\/em> and oth\u00aders, that feel dream\u00adlike in the rich\u00adest, most haunt\u00ading sense of the word. But rather&nbsp;than a set of Lynch homages, each of the five film\u00admak\u00aders con\u00adtribut\u00ading here come at the project of&nbsp;cin\u00ade\u00adma\u00adtiz\u00ading the uncon\u00adscious expe\u00adri\u00adence dif\u00adfer\u00adent\u00adly. Some may feel just like your own dreams; oth\u00aders may feel noth\u00ading like them.<\/p>\n<p><em>Rolling Stone<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/movies\/lists\/25-movies-we-cant-wait-to-see-at-sxsw-2016-20160303\/collective-unconscious-20160301\">sum\u00adma\u00adrizes the \u201chyp\u00adnot\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly sense\u00adless\u201d results<\/a> neat\u00adly: \u201ca gor\u00adgeous sketch about a wood\u00adland sniper drifts into a Mal\u00adick-esque por\u00adtrait of an ex-con\u2019s first day of free\u00addom; a gym teacher pre\u00adpares his class for a vol\u00adcano drill; a young moth\u00ader who\u2019s giv\u00ading birth to an ele\u00admen\u00adtal mon\u00adster; the grim reaper hosts a TV show about mur\u00addered black chil\u00addren.\u201d The film has already made an impres\u00adsive cir\u00adcuit around the fes\u00adti\u00advals, includ\u00ading his year\u2019s South by South\u00adwest (where the&nbsp;<em>New York\u00ader<\/em>\u2019s Richard Brody <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/culture\/richard-brody\/the-best-movies-i-saw-at-sxsw\">named it as a favorite<\/a>),&nbsp;so clear\u00adly their review com\u00admit\u00adtees saw some\u00adthing much more inter\u00adest\u00ading going on than the kind of recount\u00ading of dreams that goes on over break\u00adfast.
