You may love or hate his work, the body of which includes such strik\u00ading, for\u00admal\u00adly and mate\u00adri\u00adal\u00adly uncon\u00adven\u00adtion\u00adal build\u00adings as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guggenheim-bilbao.eus\/en\/the-building\/\">Bil\u00adbao\u2019s Guggen\u00adheim Muse\u00adum<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.laphil.com\/philpedia\/about-walt-disney-concert-hall\">Los Ange\u00adles\u2019 Walt Dis\u00adney Con\u00adcert Hall<\/a>, and<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Museum_of_Pop_Culture#\/media\/File:EMPPano11.jpg\"> Seat\u00adtle\u2019s Muse\u00adum of Pop Cul\u00adture<\/a>, but you can\u2019t remain indif\u00adfer\u00adent to it, and that alone tells us how deeply Gehry under\u00adstands the pow\u00ader of his craft.<\/p>\n<p>And so when Gehry talks archi\u00adtec\u00adture, we should lis\u00adten. <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2pcxz4e\">Mas\u00adter\u00adclass<\/a>, the online edu\u00adca\u00adtion start\u00adup that has pro\u00adduced cours\u00ades in var\u00adi\u00adous dis\u00adci\u00adplines with such high-pro\u00adfile prac\u00adti\u00adtion\u00ader-teach\u00aders as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openculture.com\/2017\/04\/david-mamet-teaches-dramatic-writing-in-a-new-online-course.html\">David Mamet<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openculture.com\/2017\/06\/herbie-hancock-to-teach-his-first-online-course-on-jazz.html\">Her\u00adbie Han\u00adcock<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openculture.com\/2017\/06\/dr-jane-goodall-will-teach-an-online-course-about-conserving-our-environment.html\">Jane Goodall<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openculture.com\/2017\/04\/steve-martin-will-teach-his-first-online-course-on-comedy.html\">Steve Mar\u00adtin<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.openculture.com\/2016\/05\/werner-herzog-will-teach-his-first-online-course-on-filmmaking.html\">Wern\u00ader Her\u00adzog<\/a>, has read\u00adied a rich oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adty to do so in the fall: <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2puBnR7\">\u201cFrank Gehry Teach\u00ades Design and Archi\u00adtec\u00adture,\u201d<\/a> whose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Az-m56vUjgw\">trail\u00ader<\/a> you can view above. <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2puBnR7\">The $90 course<\/a> promis\u00ades a look into the cre\u00adative process, as well as into the \u201cnev\u00ader-before-seen mod\u00adel archive,\u201d of this biggest of all \u201cstar\u00adchi\u00adtects\u201d whose \u201cvision for what archi\u00adtec\u00adture could accom\u00adplish\u201d has reshaped not just&nbsp;our sky\u00adlines but \u201cthe imag\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtions of artists and design\u00aders around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"oc-center-da\">\n<div data-fuse=\"22871471544\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>As with any edu\u00adca\u00adtion\u00adal expe\u00adri\u00adence, the more thor\u00adough\u00adly you pre\u00adpare in advance, the more you\u2019ll get out of it, and so, to that end, we sug\u00adgest watch\u00ading Syd\u00adney Pol\u00adlack\u00ad\u2019s doc\u00adu\u00admen\u00adtary&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vYt2SQPqTh0\"><em>Sketch\u00ades of Frank Gehry<\/em><\/a>, recent\u00adly made avail\u00adable online by the&nbsp;Louis Vuit\u00adton Foun\u00adda\u00adtion. \u201cPol\u00adlack is not usu\u00adal\u00adly a doc\u00adu\u00admen\u00adtar\u00adi\u00adan, and Gehry has nev\u00ader been doc\u00adu\u00adment\u00aded; they were friends, and Gehry sug\u00adgest\u00aded Pol\u00adlack might want to \u2018do some\u00adthing,\u2019&nbsp;\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerebert.com\/reviews\/sketches-of-frank-gehry-2006\">wrote Roger Ebert in his review<\/a>. \u201cBecause Pol\u00adlack has his own clout and is not mere\u00adly a sup\u00adpli\u00adcant at Gehry\u2019s altar, he asks pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal ques\u00adtions as his equal, sym\u00adpa\u00adthizes about big projects that seem to go wrong and offers insights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pol\u00adlack also \u201chas access to the archi\u00adtec\u00adt\u2019s famous clients, like Michael Eis\u00adner,\u201d com\u00admis\u00adsion\u00ader of the Dis\u00adney Con\u00adcert hall, \u201cand Den\u00adnis Hop\u00adper, who lives in a Gehry home in San\u00adta Mon\u00adi\u00adca\u201d \u2014 just as Gehry him\u00adself does, in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/67321\/gehry-residence-frank-gehry\">the house whose rad\u00adi\u00adcal, qua\u00adsi-indus\u00adtri\u00adal mod\u00adi\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtion<\/a> did much to make his name. Though he also brings in a few of the archi\u00adtec\u00adt\u2019s many crit\u00adics to pro\u00advide bal\u00adance, \u201cPol\u00adlack\u00ad\u2019s opin\u00adion is clear: Gehry is a genius.\u201d You may think so too, which would be a good a rea\u00adson as any <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2puBnR7\">to take his Mas\u00adter\u00adclass<\/a>.
