If you haven\u2019t read a com\u00adic since your child\u00adhood Sun\u00adday fun\u00adnies, you need only watch this pro\u00adgram to under\u00adstand why the artist\u2019s pass\u00ading on Sat\u00adur\u00adday brought forth so many breath\u00adless trib\u00adutes. You\u2019ll also catch a glimpse of the vast pos\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adties offered by com\u00adic art as a form. The inscrutable work\u00adings of M\u0153bius\u2019 pecu\u00adliar imag\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion drove him far into this ter\u00adri\u00adto\u00adry, and many cre\u00adators (in comics and else\u00adwhere) still strug\u00adgle to fol\u00adlow him.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from M\u0153bius him\u00adself, the pro\u00adgram inter\u00adviews the coterie from his ear\u00adly years in France at <em>M\u00e9tal Hurlant<\/em>, the mag\u00ada\u00adzine that would open the space for his dis\u00adtinc\u00adtive\u00adly sub\u00adcon\u00adscious-fueled, near-psy\u00adche\u00addel\u00adic yet rich\u00adly tex\u00adtur\u00adal sci\u00adence-fic\u00adtion sen\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty. It goes on to talk with well-known admir\u00aders who, feel\u00ading the res\u00ado\u00adnance of those par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar (and par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adly dif\u00adfi\u00adcult to describe) qual\u00adi\u00adties of M\u0153bius\u2019 vision that cross so many nation\u00adal and artis\u00adtic bound\u00adaries, found ways to work with him.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oc-center-da\">\n<div data-fuse=\"22871471544\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>These high-pro\u00adfile col\u00adlab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtors range from Mar\u00advel Comics founder <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stan_lee\">Stan Lee<\/a>, who enlist\u00aded M\u0153bius to take Sil\u00adver Surfer in new aes\u00adthet\u00adic and intel\u00adlec\u00adtu\u00adal direc\u00adtions, to screen\u00adwriter Dan O\u2019Bannon, bio\u00adme\u00adchan\u00adi\u00adcal sur\u00adre\u00adal\u00adist H.R. Giger, and filmmaker\/mystic <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alejandro_Jodorowsky\">Ale\u00adjan\u00addro Jodor\u00adowsky<\/a>, who worked with him on an unre\u00adal\u00adized (but still tan\u00adta\u00adliz\u00ading) film adap\u00adta\u00adtion of <em>Dune<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>In Search of M\u0153bius<\/em> also explores the real land\u00adscapes that must have worked their way into M\u0153bius\u2019 imag\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion, con\u00adtribut\u00ading to the strik\u00ading\u00adly unre\u00adal land\u00adscapes that worked their way out of it. We see the deserts of Mex\u00adi\u00adco, traces of which appear in his West\u00adern series <em>Blue\u00adber\u00adry<\/em>, where he vis\u00adit\u00aded his moth\u00ader in the 1950s. We see the Los Ange\u00adles he con\u00adsid\u00adered \u201creal\u00adly an amaz\u00ading city,\u201d where his work on <em>Sil\u00adver Surfer<\/em> took him. We even see him in his native land, stand\u00ading before the harsh\u00adly icon\u00adic Bib\u00adlio\u00adth\u00e8que nationale de France.
