Unlike any event before it, the Rev\u00ado\u00adlu\u00adtion drew its strength from ide\u00adol\u00ado\u00adgy \u2014 an ide\u00adol\u00ado\u00adgy that turned on the belief that France<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">&nbsp;had cre\u00adat\u00aded a rad\u00adi\u00adcal break with its monar\u00adchi\u00adcal past, and would now rad\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly re-orga\u00adnize itself along egal\u00adi\u00adtar\u00adi\u00adan and demo\u00adc\u00adra\u00adt\u00adic lines. To dri\u00adve this mes\u00adsage home, the rev\u00ado\u00adlu\u00adtion\u00adar\u00adies pro\u00adduced thou\u00adsands of pam\u00adphlets and polit\u00adi\u00adcal works of art. What\u2019s more, they cre\u00adat\u00aded a <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceworld.wolfram.com\/astronomy\/FrenchRevolutionaryCalendar.html\">new rev\u00ado\u00adlu\u00adtion\u00adary cal\u00aden\u00addar<\/a> and a series of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hup.harvard.edu\/catalog.php?isbn=9780674298842\">rev\u00ado\u00adlu\u00adtion\u00adary fes\u00adti\u00advals<\/a> that helped give cul\u00adtur\u00adal expres\u00adsion to the idea that France had entered a new polit\u00adi\u00adcal age.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><\/p><div class=\"oc-center-da\">\n<div data-fuse=\"22871471544\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">More than a cen\u00adtu\u00adry lat\u00ader, the Russ\u00adian rev\u00ado\u00adlu\u00adtion\u00adar\u00adies would use the French blue\u00adprint and all cul\u00adtur\u00adal tools at their dis\u00adpos\u00adal to pro\u00admote its Marx\u00adist ideals. You\u2019ve seen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sovietposters.com\/\">the posters<\/a>. You\u2019ve watched <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openculture.com\/2014\/02\/watch-dziga-vertovs-a-man-with-a-movie-camera-named-the-8th-best-film-ever-made.html\">the films<\/a>. Maybe you\u2019ve <a href=\"http:\/\/marxists.org\/archive\/lenin\/works\/1901\/witbd\/index.htm\">read their texts<\/a>.
