History

AmTab was founded in 1958.

In 2019, AmTab opened a manufacturing facility at 600 Eagle Drive in Bensenville, Illinois. The Village of Bensenville reported that the facility contained approximately 310,000 square feet of office, manufacturing, loading, showroom, and production space and employed approximately 160 people at the time of its opening.

The opening was also reported by the Daily Herald, which covered a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Bensenville officials and AmTab president and chief executive Doss Samikkannu.

Choose DuPage identified AmTab Manufacturing's facility transaction as the third-largest real-estate transaction in DuPage County during 2019.

Products and operations

AmTab manufactures and furnishes products for educational environments. Product applications include K–12 dining commons and food courts, classrooms, computer and technology rooms, science laboratories, music and performance spaces, and multipurpose areas.

The company's Bensenville facility includes office, manufacturing, loading, and showroom space. According to the Village of Bensenville, the move allowed AmTab to centralize its operations at one location.

School nutrition programs

AmTab has participated in equipment-grant programs administered through the School Nutrition Foundation, the charitable arm of the School Nutrition Association.

In 2025, the School Nutrition Foundation and AmTab announced three equipment-grant programs for School Nutrition Association members. The programs offered up to $200,000 in indoor cafeteria furniture, up to $100,000 in signage, graphics and décor, and up to $50,000 in outdoor dining furniture.

Watson Chapel School District in Arkansas was awarded an AmTab K–12 Food Court Furniture Grant valued at up to $200,000. The Pine Bluff Commercial reported that the grant would allow the district to update cafeteria furniture and expand dining options for students.

In 2026, Lumberton Independent School District in Texas received a $100,000 AmTab K–12 Signage, Graphics and Decor Grant from the School Nutrition Foundation. The Beaumont Enterprise reported that the grant was intended to update cafeteria signage, menu boards, and décor throughout the district.

Industry involvement

In 2024, the Association of School Business Officials International announced AmTab as a strategic partner in its Corporate Alliance Partnership program.

The Education Market Association (EDmarket) named AmTab the exclusive multi-year sponsor of its Certified Learning Place Specialist program, a professional-development program focused on the planning and design of learning environments.
