– While Jesús Menéndez's full name is Jesús Menéndez Larrondo, he is most commonly known as Jesús Menéndez in Spanish and English sources, both inside and outside of Cuba (see article references). In my research, I have yet to encounter him being referred to by his full name. For this reason, I believe that someone looking for the article about him is unlikely to search for his full name. The current page for Jesús Menéndez is the municipality in Cuba that is named after this labor leader, because he is considered a national hero. As such, he is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC.   I think it's fine. Not strictly necessary pre-move but reasonable now, and this proposal appears likely to succeed. The {{family name hatnote}} still serves a purpose as long as the full name Jesús Menéndez Larrondo remains in the lead, and since readers may encounter this name in other sources, so you may want to restore that. @Grnrchst: I've updated the image on Commons to include description and links to editions of Noticias de Hoy (daily Cuban newspaper) that published this photograph at least twice on the front cover in 1948. Also, here are some alt hooks below. I tried to think of a way to include Che in there somehow, but I struggled with the wording.

• ALT1 ... that the army officer who assassinated Jesús Menéndez (pictured) was later caught and executed by Cuban rebels after he tried to sneak away from a battle, dressed as a civilian? (supported by: )
• ALT2 ... that Jesús Menéndez (pictured) was unanimously reelected to lead the sugar union, but the government held their own "official" congress to elect an anti-communist instead? (same source as ALT0 above)
