Request for Independent Assessment: Amir Paz-Fuchs

Dear Editors, Hello, I am Amir Paz-Fuchs and therefore have an obvious conflict of interest concerning any possible article about me. With that in mind, I am not asking to create or publish an article directly. Instead, I would be grateful if an uninvolved editor could offer an independent view on whether avialable evidence exists, and is sufficient, for an academic biography, and whether it would be possible to review a concise source dossier or prepare a neutral draft. The potential basis for this request includes: 1. A two year term as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Comparative Labour Law and Industrial Relations, following one year as Deputy Editor; 2. Two research monographs published by Oxford University Press (the most recent in 2026); two edited collections; the first ever textbook on Clinical Legal Education (co-authored), also published by Oxford University Press in 2026; and a wider body of research on labour law, social justice, welfare conditionality, modern slavery, unfree labour and privatisation (on the latter - co-edited two additional volumes). 3. Professional coverage, including a Law Society Gazette profile. 4. Service as Head of Sussex Law School (now in the fourth year); Professor of Law and Social Justice; and appointment as Head of the University of Manchester School of Law (starting 1st September 2026). 5. Founding Director of Sussex Clinical Legal Education, and within it the Citizens Advice Project, which won the national Advice Project of the Year Award. 6. Membership of the Board of the Socio-Legal Studies Association and past Director of Citizens Advice in West Sussex. I would be happy to provide independent secondary sources from university , publisher and official sources to verify the above and beyond. I fully understand that the article cannot be guaranteed to be pubished and that any decision concerning notability , content or publication will be made independently. I realise that Wikipedia cannot serve as independent sourcing for a biography. I include these only as possible pointers towards work that has received wider uptake:

I think if you'd like you might be in an okay position to draft your article - I don't see much substantial coverage of you directly (mostly institutions you're a part of covering you or an article written by you, neither of which count as SigCov) but there's a fair chance you pass NPROF criterion 8 which would get you through notability anyway. I'd recommend trying drafting (and of course disclosing your conflict of interest there as well), and then seeing what your Articles for Creation Reviewer thinks. But please remember to not include any original research - just because you know something happened to you or you did something doesn't mean it can be included unless it can be backed up with a source.

Also, for clarity, did you use an LLM to write this comment? I'm asking because I checked a few of the articles that seemed most potential, and the links, when followed, end in utm_source=chatgpt.com. Also because you put in a redlink to Selective Conscientious Objection instead of the bluelink to Selective conscientious objection. If so, I'd just want to make sure you know that LLM-generated text is not allowed on Wikipedia and is enough to immediately decline an article with it regardless of your notability. For clarity on this, please check WP:LLM. don't use LLMs for your drafting, writing, or editing at all.

Also, LLMs are known to hallucinate references and their importance - please be mindful of that and make sure you've found all of the references you're using and have checked them yourself for their importance, relevance, substantial coverage of you, et cetera. I have not personally checked all these articles for their substantial coverage of you, only the few that looked the most promising (and they didn't turn out to be sigcov) - so please make sure you personally check all of them and evaluate every source you use to make sure it includes the claims you use it for. Thank you for this reply. To clarify - I wrote the first draft on my own but did indeed use ChatGPT to help organise and format the comment and source list. I had incorporated the underlying source materials but sometimes used ChatGPT as a form of Googling. I had not realised that the links had retained the ChatGPT tracking suffix, or that Wikipedia's LLM policy extended to this use. Thank you for pointing it out. I have now read the WP:LLM page you referred to and will not use an LLM at all to draft or rewrite any article content. Needless to say, I will personally verify each source and make sure that every factual claim in the draft is directly supported. Thank you again for the guidance. After three AfC declines (Nov 2025 – May 2026), the draft has been **completely rewritten** per the reviewers' guidance:

• all promotional phrasing, keynotes, award lists, and resume-style sections removed; every claim now cited; all prose is new (no text reused from earlier versions or my website);
• the notability case now rests on independent coverage: The Age (2010, "Lost? X-ray vision gets you mobile"), iTnews (2010), Wired (2011), and Japan's NHK (2011) on the Nokia-funded "AR x-ray" project I led at the University of South Australia, plus IT SOCIAL (2026, French trade press);
• academic standing: professor at Université Paris-Saclay (LISN/CNRS) per the institute's official page; CHI 2026 best-paper honourable mention (per SIGCHI's awards page); the "True Augmented Reality" concept (2015) discussed and attributed in a 2021 Frontiers in Virtual Reality review; TVCG "Associate Editor of the Year" 2021 (journal editorial); FIDE International Master (1996) per FIDE/ChessBase.

There is an outstanding edit request at Talk:Jay Faires#Request to update biography and current career concerning an update to Faires's post-music-industry career. An earlier version of the request was declined because it lacked sufficient neutral, independent sourcing. I subsequently narrowed the proposed changes and added third-party sources, including independent coverage from RAIN News.

One reason I asked for an independent assessment is that a basic search tends to surface the reality-TV coverage first, while some of the broader biographical coverage is less prominent.

For example, Jacksonville Magazine published a standalone profile covering my background as an All-American swimmer at Florida State and participation in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, in addition to the television career:

That is what I mean, they are all related to your appearance on the Bachelorette. There seems to be little independent notaiblty. The fact you have had to ask us about this kind of demonstrates that no one thought you were notable enough to think you needed a page; you had to ask for one. Request for independent assessment of possible academic biography

I am Michael A. Grandner (Wikipedia user Mgslp1), so I have a conflict of interest regarding any potential article about me. I am therefore not proposing to create or directly edit one. I am hoping an uninvolved editor might be willing to assess whether I meet WP:NACADEMIC and, if appropriate, consider creating an article.

There appear to be two potentially relevant bases for notability. Web of Science reports more than 25,000 citations to my work, nearly 24,000 excluding self-citations, with an h-index of 72. In the Elsevier/Ioannidis 2024 science-wide bibliometric dataset, I rank #1,861 globally on the composite citation indicator excluding self-citations and #99 among more than 360,000 researchers assigned to Neurology & Neurosurgery.

Separately, I have been repeatedly used as an academic expert by major independent media for more than a decade, including The Atlantic, NPR, TIME, The Washington Post, Scientific American, Consumer Reports, The Guardian, CNN, and The New York Times. There are also several long-form interviews focused specifically on my work and career.

My scholarly contributions include work on sleep health as a multidimensional construct, the social-ecological model of sleep, sleep disparities and social determinants, sleep and cardiovascular health, athlete sleep and mental health, and consumer sleep technology. I also participated in the AASM/SRS adult sleep-duration consensus and the AHA Life’s Essential 8 Presidential Advisory.

I have assembled a short source packet and can provide it if useful. I am not requesting any particular wording or outcome and would prefer that any notability determination and article development be handled entirely by independent editors.
