All psychotropic (subclass) substances are psychoactive (superclass), but not all psychoactive substances are psychotropic. The term "psychotropic" is generally used in medical settings. ElectronCompound (talk) 11:56, 15 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Technically psychotropic drugs noticeably affect mood and/or cognition, and psychoactive drugs include any drug which crosses the blood-brain barrier, but most people use these two terms interchangeably. "Tropic" means changes, and "active" means cause activity within. The difference is subtle, and the implication is that psychotropic drugs are intended to improve mood or cognition, and this would be different from any psychoactive drug which might be considered more likely to stupefy or depress (i.e. alcohol). I find the lead image to be somewhat blurry, and the white balance seems a bit too warm. The pure red text also seems a bit uncomfortable to look at.
I know it's really difficult to have someone photograph all these controlled substance in one shot (and a Google search revealed almost no other such image than this Wikipedian's photo), maybe we can just... photoshop the current image's colour a bit? 海盐沙冰 (talk) 21:30, 6 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
