Definition of (Japanese) Conservatism
[edit]One of the problems in Japanese politics, not limited to this article, is the definition of conservatism. That is, is a bureaucratic National Socialist like Nobusuke Kishi or a Anti-Tojō fascist like Seigō Nakano "conservative"? In addition to it, what about the idea that in today's Japan, prewar national liberals like Tsuda Sokichi and Minobe Tatsukichi are seen as "true conservatives"? What do experienced Wikipedians specializing in politics think of this kind of problem? 風猷既頽 (talk) 19:11, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for your comment. I have incorporated the suggested additions into the template. Conservatism is a broad ideology and it has a long history, but you are correct that Nakano was never a conservative, so I removed him from the template.

Color of template
[edit]The dichotomy, which divides conservatism into red and liberalism into blue, is an American distinction; even the official color of the LDP was green, not red, before 2017.
Color of most conservative-based templates is blue; LDP is not the only floor conservative political party in Japan, so I support keeping the color of template blue, and I'm against changing it to red. ProgramT (talk) 09:10, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
Hideki Tojo
[edit]I attempted to remove Hideki Tojo and his daughter Yuko from this navbox as I felt that they were more far-right than right-wing, however my edit was subsequently reverted on the grounds that Tojo was allegedly an ultra-conservative. I personally feel as if adding far-right figures to this navbox may have an anti-conservative bias to it, and as such, Tojo doesn't belong on this template, as he's already on the navboxes for Kokkashugi and Japanese Nationalism, which arguably match his political ideology more closely.
