Recent change reverted

I'm reverting this recent revision (WP:BRD) because I don't really understand the reasoning behind it, and it introduced more issues than it might have solved.

Let me list some of the issues I see right away.

• Biology of romantic love largely isn't a psychology article; it's about evolutionary theory and neuroscience.
• The revision grouped several articles under a link to human bonding which are not really subsets of that concept. For example, interpersonal attraction is a field which studied liking between strangers.
• Several articles listed under psychology are definitely types of love, for example, affection and infatuation.
• The section on concepts is now just a motley selection of random stuff, including love addiction, love letter, Valentine's Day, and philosophy of love, which are all completely different kinds of things.

Another general issue is that the recategorization has broken the template parameter which determines which section is expanded.

I am questioning what issue this change was meant to solve in the first place. I did not create the original categories, but they seem perfectly clear to me.

I am not saying the categories should not be changed, but I am wondering what the reason for this is. If there is a real problem, maybe some other organization would be more clear, and without introducing the kinds of issues above. ShiveryPeaks (talk) 01:15, 20 August 2026 (UTC)

I will also give a different proposal for groupings that I see-

• Types of love (affection, being in love, passionate and companionate love, etc.)
• Types of relationship (friendship, interpersonal relationship, intimate relationship, love triangle, etc.)
• Culture (courtship, love letter, Valentine's Day, etc.)
• Theories of love (attachment theory, color wheel theory of love, reward theory of attraction, triangular theory of love, etc.)
• Social views (same as before)

Because maybe the sections on types of love and concepts are a bit overloaded, and that's one main issue I see, which is that types of love and types of relationships are actually different things. ShiveryPeaks (talk) 01:24, 20 August 2026 (UTC)

One issue with this that I noticed is that Template:Close relationships has a list of relationship types already. It also seems possible to me that types of relationships should just be removed from the love sidebar, and the close relationships sidebar should be included instead (in addition to love sidebar) in relevant articles.
