Re: "Out of sight, out of mind" sorts of lists

[edit]

Mean not offense with that, it's just a trend I noticed from the early days of wikipedia, where everything got a list and the practiced carried on for a long time. It's particularly irksome because it resulted in a lot of cases where the main article was good or higher, but the list was either forgotten or fell into hard disrepair and likely shouldn't have been spun out as is. Incorrect use of article banners

[edit]

Hi @Clariniie. You added Template:Cleanup bare URLs to Music of Genshin Impact, even though there are no bare URLs present. Please be more vigilant in future and only apply these types of banners for legitimate issues. Thank you! 11WB (talk) 08:38, 30 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Well, what I meant there were bare URL was some references were formatted like below:
:<ref name="vgmo">Kotowski, Don (April 5, 2021). [http://www.vgmonline.net/yu-pengchen/ "Yu-Peng Chen Interview: The Music of Genshin Impact"]. ''VGMO -Video Game Music Online-''. [https://web.archive.org/web/20220917160840/http://www.vgmonline.net/yu-pengchen/ Archived] from the original on September 17, 2022. Retrieved February 28, 2022.</ref><ref name="GameQualityForum" /> :
Instead of this, which I think looks more usual with the others:
:<ref>{{Cite web|first=Don|last=Kotowski|title=Yu-Peng Chen Interview: The Music of Genshin Impact|url=http://www.vgmonline.net/yu-pengchen/|url-status=dead|website=VGMO|date=April 5, 2021|access-date=February 28, 2022|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220917160840/http://www.vgmonline.net/yu-pengchen/|archive-date=September 17, 2022}}</ref> :
If the source is not archived, remove "archive-url" and "archive-date" parameters.

Bare URLs means URLs that are visible to a reader without needing to access the editor. There are no bare URLs visible like that. I understand the confusion however. I would also stress to be more aware of errors, such as this. These are cite errors. I fixed the one that was created yesterday, so that's resolved now. 11WB (talk) 09:12, 30 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You

[edit]

If you want to revert my edits, you're going to need more than just because as an explanation. If they're not necessary, why do the parameters to interject them onto references exist then? GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 09:18, 18 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

For the record, I'm not the type to edit war over something, especially if the individual gives me a good reason for the reversion. It's ironic you say I did not give a reason as you fail to give a reason other than "it's unnecessary". You could make that argument with any Japanese animanga series, chapter or episode titles using that empty logic. Please tell me exactly where and how it was decided that you can not interject the exact Japanese title for a Japanese source; Any WP and MOS discouraging against it would also do. If you can do that for me, there wouldn't be an issue over this. --GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 09:28, 18 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I want to make it absolutely clear that I am not going out of my way to give you conflict. I hate such things myself. But, you created it by making a weak edit description not based off any consensus or guidebook. This talk page section is your chance to fix that. --GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 09:52, 18 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
So a reference would be formatted like this:
<ref name="Story2nd">{{Cite web|url=https://hyakkano.com/story/season2/|title=Story {{!}} TV Anime "Kimi no Koto ga Dai Dai Dai Dai Daisuki na Hyaku-nin no Kanojo" Kōshiki Saito|script-title=ja:Story {{!}} TVアニメ「君のことが大大大大大好きな100人の彼女」公式サイト|trans-title=Story {{!}} TV Anime "The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You" Official Site|website=hyakkano.com|language=ja|access-date=January 12, 2025|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20250112111619/https://hyakkano.com/story/season2/|archive-date=January 12, 2025|url-status=live}}</ref>
Instead of this:
<ref name="Story2nd">{{Cite web|url=https://hyakkano.com/story/season2/|title=Story|website=hyakkano.com|language=ja|access-date=January 12, 2025|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20250112111619/https://hyakkano.com/story/season2/|archive-date=January 12, 2025|url-status=live}}</ref>
I felt that adding romanization of non-Latin languages as Title were overwhelming and should never be included. Do any other articles of subjects from non-Latin countries have romanization of non-Latin reference titles as Title parameter? Link Click and NU'EST don't have. It might be intended to assist people who can't read non-Latin texts. I removed that per WP:USEENGLISH and WP:NOTGUIDE.
There's no need to include Japanese name of Website or Publisher either; the official website's name is already listed on the "website" parameter. Plus, we are not, say, Japanese Wikipedia.
These not only apply to Japanese-language but also others that are not written in Latin Alphabet.

Alright, I see where you are coming from now. This is a much better and justified debriefing of your edits. I will re-apply your changes to the Japanese sources. Is there anything else you would like to discuss about the article changes other than this? --GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 08:00, 19 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello Clariniie! Some of the content you'd added to Happy-Go-Lucky Days was copied or closely paraphrased from a source. Specifically, the plot section was closely paraphrased from this AnimeNewsNetwork post. Because we cannot host content on Wikipedia which may be a copyright violation, it has been removed. In future, please write content in your own words rather than copying or closely paraphrasing from sources. Let me know if you have questions :) Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈) 23:16, 1 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

What? I've never copied anything directly from websites. ⋆。˚꒰ঌ Clara A. Djalim ໒꒱˚。⋆ 09:03, 2 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Please compare the content I removed in this edit with the synopsis in this Anime News Network review. It is a very close paraphrase. Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈) 13:58, 2 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
