Hi there, please can you modify or remove this illustration? It incorrectly depicts a measles virus in the environment binding to the surface of an epithelial cell. However initial infection targets macrophages in the lining of the airways. In a later stage of infection, the virus infects epithelial cells but fuses to the binding protein nectin-4 having been transported in the bloodstream.

Yes appears understanding has changed from:

"The current model of measles virus (MV) pathogenesis implies that apical infection of airway epithelial cells precedes systemic spread." to

"MeV does not directly infect epithelial cells upon entry in a new host. MeV traverses the epithelium within immune cells that carry it to lymphatic organs where amplification occurs. Infected immune cells then synchronously deliver large amounts of virus to the airways."

It does use SLAMF1 to attach to macrophages and it does use nectin-4 for epithelial cells eventually.

Apologies for late reply, I wasn't monitoring your talk page. I'm not sure how easy it is to change an illustration ..... I would suggest adding a macrophage straddling the epithelial cells, being attacked by the virion. I was hoping to find something similar in Wikimedia but I'm short of time!

In regard to 2026 Bundibugyo ebolavirus epidemic:

Later editing of that section has controversially resulted in:

"Heavy bleeding is uncommon; if it occurs, it is usually in the gastrointestinal tract. The rate of bleeding into the gastrointestinal tract was reported to be ~58% in the 2001 outbreak in Gabon and DRC.

Observations of infected patients during the current epidemic found that the most common symptoms were similar to ... . However severe bleeding (hemorrhagic symptoms), a common and distinguishing feature of EBOV infection, occurred in relatively few (approximately 10%) of patients. ...".

That edit might seem like a case of "that which does not folllow"; followed by WP:TECHNICAL and WP:NOTATEXTBOOK.

(Note s/he did not say "copyvio".)

Please consider going to talk page, and simply say: "if DocJames totally agrees or not. Anyone else's thoughts?"

(In this manner, anyone can later take a discussion that is dying down, to wp:Med... , et cetera.)
