Question
[edit]Hello. I translated article Boris Perchatkin into another wikis using AI. Then TheGreatEditor024 started discussion with me on the Mirandian Wikipedia. They sincerely believed that the guidelines WP:AI and WP:LLM applied not only to the English Wikipedia but to all language editions of Wikipedia. I explained them that they was wrong. Then they apllied global block request for me on metawiki that had not been satisfied. Then they marked article Boris Perchatkin on the English Wikipedia as an AI-generated. I explained them that this article was not written by AI but I wrote it myself. But after this they started edit war returning the mark in the article. What do you think about such behavior of the editor? What should I do in this situation? Asorev (talk) 11:25, 15 September 2026 (UTC)
- Look man, I put you on global block request because your actions are literally cross-wiki spam. I don't care if you translated articles on your language or any languages you know. But, you translated articles on 100+ Wikipedia's whose languages you don't even know. That's the issue. To be honest, I still suspect a violation of WP:PAID and WP:COI. Also, it's not an edit war. - @Asorev, I have no enmity toward you. I don't even know you. My actions are purely out of concern for the quality of the projects and protecting smaller language communities from automated cross-wiki spam.
- Also, you explicitly stated that you used AI (Google Gemini Flash 3.6) to mass-produce AN ARTICLE ON THE SAME SUBJECT across multiple wikis, so it is very hard not to doubt the English article as well. I am leaving the maintenance tag as it is and stepping back so a neutral administrator can review your logs and make the final decision. Please do not ping me again in this thread. By the way, TheGreatEditor024 on their page on the Russian Wikipedia claimed that they do not speak Russian: ("Я не владею русским языком"). Also they created article on the Russian Wikipedia: ru:Корейская католическая ассоциация. It is reasonable to assume that they translated this article using AI. In accordance with Russian version of the guideline WP:LLM - ru:ВП:LLM, "when using a neural network in the main namespace, it is recommended to explicitly indicate this. Such a notice can be placed in the edit summary or on the article's talk page". They did not do anything of this. And after that, they falsely accuses me of using AI to translate the article into English. Asorev (talk) 15:00, 15 September 2026 (UTC)
- @Asorev is 100% correct that I translated a single missing topic (Korean Catholic Association) into Russian using translation tools (Google Translate) without initially placing the local notification template on the talk page. I thank him for pointing this out, and I have immediately corrected my mistake by adding the proper AI/translation notice to the talk page in compliance with ru:ВП:LLM.
- However, translating a single encyclopedic article to cover a content gap is not comparable to executing a mass-scale, automated cross-wiki promotional campaign for one subject across 100+ language editions.
