On how to refer to Sidny Lopes Cabral

Hey there, hope you are doing well. Regarding how to refer to Sidny Lopes Cabral in 2026 FIFA World Cup round of 32 football box, I personally think that he should be referred to as his paternal surname "Cabral" in the whole article.

I know you are from Brasil and would probably know much more on Portuguese names than I do. But I just want you to provide an evidence or an explanation on why his maternal surname "Lopes" should be included as well, instead of just saying "Stop reverting it. You are wrong." without any reasoning, since I believe Wiki works on evidence and logical discussions.

So if you would give an explanation or any evidence, I would be happy to change it back to "Lopes Cabral".

Several editors have listed him like that. On the squad's navigational box, on the lineup images... You were the only one that reverted it. No, it doesn't. Amad Diallo is similar to Memphis Depay for example. Some Portuguese or Spanish countries have players that use their first name instead. Fabián is referred by his first name, just like Brahim Diaz. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 19:57, 11 July 2026 (UTC)

Ah sure. There's no better place to see it know than the World Cup, even though it is ending... At the same time there's some slight differences there due to templates and other stuff than the usual articles. You could check 2026 SC Corinthians Paulista season. Most of the stuff you need to know about it is there.

The majority of countries use the player's last name. Some exceptions are: Brazil (we usually use our first name, even when there's a surname attached to it - or at least both of them are used), other Portuguese/Spanish speaking countries (some players are also known mononymously) and a few Asian countries (you should check the previous AFC editions for an idea - Korean, Vietnamese, Hong Kong players have their full name listed due to many of them sharing the same last name; Thailand usually has the first name though). Hey brother, you try check match between Cambodia vs. Singapore at 2026 ASEAN Championship Group A some, due to account Dancing Hippos changed the minute of Ilhan Fandi's goal; the official score report stated it as 90+11, but he changed it to 90+12. Hey, I must say I'm surprised there's someone even doing lineup images, though they are incorrect right off the bat based on his drawing. Anyway, some players have distinct ways of listing their names (just check the articles, because sometimes it is related to the way their name is referred - e.g. Izwan Mahbud). I thought they announced it on the broadcast on the fight and then i went to the event page on wikipedia and i notice someone already made the change so i thought it became official and thats when i changed the title. They do announce on social media or broadcast, but sometimes it takes days until they actually really update something on the official card at the website. You can add the bout as announced and also to the background section, but not to the official fight card or change the article title. Anyway no problem. Just pay attention to those things next time. Brazilian-born players' name in Vietnam national team

I noticed that you created some of the starting lineup pictures for the article 2026 ASEAN Championship Group A.

However, the Brazilian-born players representing the team Vietnam use their Vietnamese names as their official registered names for the tournament. Specifically:

• Rafaelson → Nguyễn Xuân Son
• Hêndrio → Đỗ Hoàng Hên
• Geovane → Nguyễn Tài Lộc

Could you please update the names of these players in the starting lineup pictures for Vietnam's matches accordingly?

Hello. I've pointed that out to him over a year ago here. Several unregistered users did the same updates as he did. The main issue here is the goal/assists/disciplinary table, which he insists on updating incorrectly despite knowing exactly how to order it. @Sakiv I know how the process goes. What I meant is that he would do just the perfect thing to get sanctioned... and he did. Another erroneous edit, then I warned him on his talk page and he replied with a thumbs up before blanking it again. I went to the game and arrived late, so I'm only having time to do it know. I saw it. It is not wrong. Actually numbered events should have more text to it, but its an effort not everyone wants to make. He tried to list Islam's feat at the ITN, but the article was very poorly received (correctly) due to lack of information. What he did was similiar to other old events that earned a good article nomination.
