Navigational boxes

Hi Newtatoryd222, when creating navigational boxes such as Template:Foo Fighters songs, please be sure to add the navbox to all the articles that are listed in it. Also, when creating a songs navbox like Template:Paul McCartney songs make sure there is not already a similar template in place, as there is already Template:Paul McCartney singles. Since the song articles listed in the singles navbox will also be in the songs navbox, it becomes redundant and there is no need to have both. I recommend in the future to just work from the singles navbox and convert it to the songs navbox including renaming it. Collaboration

Hello, Newtatoryd222! I'm very pleased, ecstatic, that the Beatles project has seen activity these past few weeks, thanks to you and zmbro, and maybe some other folks I haven't mentioned. Now, I don't think I'll remain very present after the summer as I'll be studying and working. But in the meantime, I propose that we three (and perhaps some other interested people) come together to work on a large Beatles project. We may improve a very big article to good/featured article status, such as that on an album or a historical event (like the breakup or the British invasion), or try to create a good topic: in this case, one on Abbey Road is our best chance. These are just my suggestions, but let's make it a big project, and preferably one about a patch of the band that isn't covered very well on Wikipedia. What do you think? Hey Diddle

Hello Newtatoryd. Thank you for being humble in your response to zmbro's comments, which I hope you haven't taken personally. As for your article "Hey Diddle", it doesn't have much chance of passing a good article nomination yet. Any article on a McCartney song can certainly be longer after consulting more sources (see the Beatles WP Resources tab, § McCartney), for one, and any article on any song ought to have a background and composition section. Okay. None of your articles would pass GA immediately, so slow down. That being said, "Wild Life" are "Treat Her Gently/Lonely Old People" the least far (even then, the latter is mostly written by someone else). Many of your articles cover small songs, so it's expected that they won't span the Great Wall of China, but nothing can excuse a lack of detail at GA. Should you be willing, expand one of those two articles from every (book) source on McCartney you can find, and then we'll discuss again. DannyRogers800 (talk) 15:23, 13 August 2026 (UTC)

To butt in here, I agree with Danny that most of your created articles would not pass GAN. I encourage you to look over the good article criteria; most of your articles fail the broad aspect. Yeah, they have basic info, but the idea of a "good article" (and featured for that matter) is that it presents enough information to cover the subject's scope. Paul McCartney is one of the most beloved musical artists ever, and there have been hundreds of books written about him and the other Beatles. When it comes to a Beatles-related article, you absolutely cannot pass a GAN or FAC with fewer than 10 book sources. As long as it's reliable (and many aren't cough cough), almost every book out there has at least one notable thing to be included in a WP article. Obviously it's impossible to get hands on all of them, but I think you get the point. You can't pass a GAN or FAC without significant coverage. – zmbro _{(talk) (cont)} 16:36, 13 August 2026 (UTC)

No, it's nowhere near detailed enough. It can be nominated in the future once you change it enough; almost any article can become a good article some day. There are the good article guidlines you may consider, but those are just rules, and no one can learn from rules alone. I suggest you have a look at JG66's good articles on George Harrison songs, or any good articles on songs, to enlighten yourself on how an article can become a good article. The preferred approach would be to edit the existing Draft:Live from the Los Angeles Sports Arena, April 26th, 1975 rather than create a new article, circumventing the AfC process.
