Question regarding your recent deletion

Hey @SnowyRiver28 thank you for your note on my talk page. Earlier today, I attempted to add a short paragraph regarding Thunyiswa Hlongwane of Matiwane to Matiwane. You have reverted my update to an older version of the page, 05:26, 14 September 2026, which has the single line "Inkhosana Thunyiswa Hlongwane was born after the Battle of Mbholompo." The edits that you reverted from, 05:24, 14 September 2026, provides brief about Thunyiswa Hlongwane and provides the following sources:

1) Mqhayi, S.E.K (1937) Umhlekazi U Hintsa [King Hintsa] (PDF) (in IsiXhosa). The Lovedale Press. pp. 8, 15.

Reviewing the page history for Matiwane shows that I added material. This is contrary to the claim you made on my talk page that I removed material from Matiwane.

Hi @~2026-49286-01, thanks for your message and apologies for the confusion here.

If I recall correctly your edits appeared to me as just being a deletion of the citation with no explanation or added material. This sometimes happens in anti vandalism tools as they can get confused trying to display a whole bunch of consecutive edits to a page in the one diff. I've restored your edit.

Writing an accurate WP:EDITSUMMARY can help make your intention clear to patrollers in future.

Draft article on Meik WIking

Thank you for reviewing the draft.

Your claim that this person does not meet the criteria for inclusion for people and that the sources are not sufficiant is simply incorrect.

This person is New York Times bestselling globally published author of several books. The sources are somes of the world's largest and most repsected media outlets - CNN, The Times, The Guardian, Smithsonian Magazine.

No, they’re not just brief mentions.

Every source in this article sustains the claim it should sustain.

The Smithsonian and CNN articles sustain the claim that Wiking founded the Happiness Museum.

The Penguin and CNBC References sustain the claims og the books he has published, the number of copies sold and the number of languages translated the books are translated to.

The Times references sustains the fact that Wiking was dubbed the World’s happiest man by said newspaper.

Your interpretation of “indepth coverage” would mean that every subject of a Wikipedia article would need to have a lengthy feature article on the by a major media outlet. That is obviously not the case (The Times article article I have referenced is, however, exactly that) Krullemulle (talk) 09:09, 18 September 2026 (UTC)

1. Smithsonian mag article - a passing mention of the CEO (Meik Weiking) and two quotes from him. The article's focus is on the Happiness Museum, and not on the subject directly. Notability is not inherited from other things people are associated with.
2. CNN article - again focussed on the museum's opening with quotes from the subject. Same logic as above applies.
3. TedX page effectively a promotional advertisement of the subject's public speaking. No real value.
4. The Guardian article - likely SIGCOV.
5. The Telegraph article - likely SIGCOV.
6. BBC article - chiefly about work-life balance in Denmark with the subject referenced and quoted alongside others.
7. Penguin page - the subject's publisher's marketing profile page. Not an independent reliable source.
8. CNBC page - same as above.
9. The Times article - paywalled, so I can't see it, though the title suggests SIGCOV.
10. Public speaking profile page - same as 7 and 8.

After reading all sources in-depth, I concede 4, 5, and (maybe) 9 likely satisfy WP:SIGCOV. I apologise for my blanket comment earlier regarding source quality. I'm going to wait for another reviewer to go over this, but in the mean time there are other issues with the draft that will prevent it being accepted.

• The {{Short description}} template should be a short single line, not the paragraph currently in it. Something like "Danish happiness researcher and author".
• There's a raw, unformatted URL at the end of the references section that should be removed.
• "Links" should be renamed "External links", and I'd suggest reading WP:EXLINK to see if the links currently in the draft are valid inclusions.

Thanks for taking a closer look at the sources and acknowledging the significant coverage (SIGCOV) in The Guardian, The Telegraph, and The Times.

Just to clarify: the CNN and Smithsonian Magazine articles are not included to establish overall notability on their own. Instead, as I mentioned earlier, they are simply used to satisfy WP:V regarding the fact that Meik Wiking founded the Happiness Research Institute and the Happiness Museum. Please bear in mind that Wikipedia guidelines do not require sources to be full feature profiles to verify individual structural facts within an article.

Since we agree that the criteria for WP:GNG / WP:AUTHOR are met through the major national media features, there is no basis for holding back the draft based on notability or source quality.

Hi There! I'm an author, I've written 10 books about Jane Bond adventures, but of course, the only Jane Bond on Wikipedia is the 1960's version. What I'd like to do is create a disambiguation page for Jane Bond, and add an article about MY Jane Bond. Is this possible? Is it too self serving? The Jane series has been out since 2018, and is well loved by thousands of people. I'm sure people would enjoy having a page on Wiki about my particular Jane. Thanks for any help you might give. It's strongly advised you don't edit, create or interact with topics you're closely connected to. Please read WP:COI for more information.

Writing an article is quite difficult and requires knowledge of a wide variety of Wikipedia protocols and guidelines which can be difficult to grasp as a beginner.

You should also read WP:GNG and WP:NBOOK which contain information about the notability requirements for a book or series to qualify for a Wikipedia article.

If you're persistent, you must declare your COI (instructions in the page I linked above), and create a draft article per the instructions at WP:YFA. SnowyRiver28 (talk) 11:34, 22 September 2026 (UTC)

Yeah, I kinda thought it might be a potential conflict of interest.

However, I AM pretty persistent, and writing is what I do, so I'll probably start reading up on all the things you noted and see what happens.

Are you gonna mentor me on this? :-)

Would a better way to go be to start rattling cages inside the Wikipedia group and see if I can find someone who likes Jane or likes order to take responsibility for it? How does this usually get done? I'd be happy to send eBooks to someone, and all the Jane series are in Kindle Unlimited if people have that option.

Generally, if a topic is WP:NOTABLE enough to qualify for an article, it's better off to simply wait and it will be created naturally by another editor some point in the future. Wikipedia is not for promotional purposes and policies such as neutrality are paramount in cases like this.
