Questioning Article's veracity

Pilon is NO Libertarian. he is a Reagan era justice appointee who has been given a cushy Cato rock. Just because Cato says they are libertarian, doesn't make it so. The same for Pilon.

Cato's own May 30, 2002 release, which offered a nonlibertarian defense of the Bush sponsored post 911 extra FBI warrantless domestic spying upon US citizens, should be clear and convincing evidence of this: "No Problem With New FBI Surveillance Guidelines, Scholar Says".

Without pointing out Pilon's past in the Reagan Admin, and this Cato blurb, this article is deceptive propaganda, which serves Cato's interests, in this case, not the truth.

Proposed corrections and additions

Hello. I'm assisting Roger Pilon with this article at his request, as disclosed on my user page. Per WP:COI, I'm proposing these changes here rather than making them myself. They are small factual corrections and additions, and I expect to add a few more to this section shortly. Thank you to whoever reviews them.

1. Reagan administration posts

• Current: "...serving serially in the Office of Personnel Management, the State Department, and the Justice Department..."
• Proposed: "...holding five senior posts in succession at the Office of Personnel Management, the State Department, and the Justice Department..."
• Source: Cato Institute biography, already cited as ref "cato": . Also Kelman (1996), already cited, p. 85.

2. Benjamin Franklin Award

• Current: "In 1989, the National Press Foundation and the Commission on the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution presented Pilon with its Benjamin Franklin Award for excellence in writing on the U.S. Constitution."
• Proposed: "In April 1989, the National Press Foundation and the Commission on the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution, chaired by former Chief Justice Warren E. Burger, presented Pilon with their Benjamin Franklin Award for excellence in writing on the U.S. Constitution."
• Reason: Adds the month and the commission's chairman; corrects "its" to "their," since two organizations are named.

The following entries in the Selected works list have incorrect dates or page ranges. Each correction is taken from the book itself (linked copies on archive.org, and the Cato Institute's site for the Handbook):

• "A Constitution of Liberty for China": year should be 1998, not 2003.
• "The Illegitimate War on Drugs": pages should be 23–39, not 23–40.
• The Rule of Law in the Wake of Clinton: year should be 1999, not 2000.
• "Congress, the Courts, and the Constitution", Cato Handbook for Policymakers (9th ed.): pages should be 23–50, not 141–171. Pages 141–171 contain a different chapter by the same author.

• Reason: The current sentence places his teaching after the 1979 degree, but the teaching preceded it. He began at Sonoma in January 1977.
