The Wiki text for the gout article with WikEd turned on

I had no idea the enwiki RefToolbar queried a Toolforge tool, nor did I realize I was listed as a maintainer! This should be using mw:Citoid instead, I think. I logged into the tool and was able to determine the source code is at https://github.com/alexz-enwp/reftoolbar.

It's a ways away from happening, but note also that mw:Extension:CodeMirror will eventually have its own toolbar, Citoid integration, etc., that may eventually supersede WikiEditor. See phab:T436607 and phab:T95148.

Will it be possible to match the coloring of User:Cacycle/wikEd using CodeMirror? I have gotten very use to the WikEd coloring.

Particularly I like how the references stand out from the article text and how the media file code also stands out.

@Doc James Ah yes, wikEd. It was way ahead of its time. CodeMirror didn't come to MediaWiki for a decade later, and it took nearly yet an additional decade to get it where it is today. That said, I can more or less guarantee you, if you challenge yourself, you will not only be able to become accustomed to CodeMirror, but fall in love with it. Just give it a try now and see what you think :) References are indeed coloured differently, and to boot that is my personal favourite feature – "Fold all <ref> tags by default". Then the markup within references is hidden entirely, but still searchable. Changing your editor of course takes time to get used to. CodeMirror also has themes now, so we can even add a "wikEd" theme if there's enough demand for this same colour scheme. — MusikAnimal ^talk 03:18, 15 September 2026 (UTC)

If you can create a Phab task, I think it will happen :) The colours are already there for us to borrow from, and they are designed for wikitext, so we don't have the barrier that exists for the other generalized "code" themes (phab:T163533). This would be like the "colorblind-friendly" theme, which is only available for wikitext. — MusikAnimal ^talk 06:54, 15 September 2026 (UTC)

Annual Election & Members Meeting

You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our Annual Election & Members Meeting, in-person at Prime Produce in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan and also via Zoom. The Members' Meeting is similar to other WikiWednesday meetups, except that its primary function is to elect new members to the Board of Directors. We will elect three board seats – half of the elected seats on the board – and the elected board can appoint up to five more board members. As part of the Members Meeting, we will also focus on the Wikimedia NYC Programs Plan for the coming year, the Financial Report, and how to participate in our chapter member committees for Tech and Engagement. Election info: To run for election or to vote, you must be a dues-paying member of Wikimedia New York City, having renewed in the past 12 months. Voting will be both online, via emailed ballots from the ElectionBuddy service, and in-person. The poll will be open for the 48 hours between 8pm EDT on September 28 and 8pm EDT on September 30.
