Infobox

Hello, you left a message on my talk page about infoboxes. I usually edit in the French Wikipedia/Wikidata so perhaps there are differences among editing styles and preferences. I think it may be more common in French to link infoboxes to Wikidata. I thought that having infoboxes linked to Wikidata would ensure that information is always up to date & as complete as possible? For example, I just added a more precise statement in Wikidata indicating Caroline Monnet's birth place and it now reflects in the infobox. Spaghetti.linguini (talk) 16:13, 17 March 2025 (UTC)

@Spaghetti.linguini Hi- on enWiki we usually tend to use the dedicated infoboxes over directly pulling from Wikidata. I'm not sure why this is done, probably just due to enWiki being the older and larger project and edits on enWiki tend to end up propagating towards Wikidata rather than the other way around. Quick speedy deletion nomination

Hello there, and thank you for your help with NPP! I wanted to reach out because I noticed your recent A7 speedy deletion nomination of African Parliamentarians' Network on Development Evaluation (APNODE), which occurred two minuates after the article was created. Per NPPHOUR, articles shouldn't be nominated for deletion if they are actively being edited (except under obvious circumstances, e.g., vandalism or attack). In practice, this means articles shouldn't be nominated for deletion if they have been meaningfully edited in the past hour.

I understand and sympathize with wanting poorly sourced stubs out of main space, but we also need to recognize that it can come across as bitey to nominate an article for deletion too quickly -- especially considering that articles in mainspace do not need to be complete, and editors are allowed to develop articles in the mainspace.

Help with my new drafted Article: Friedrich Georg Goethe

Hello, you declined my submitted drafted article for Friedrich Georg Goethe. It included one reference, which albeit was to a Wiki family tree page. I appreciate you not deleting the article, and giving me 6 months of editing allowance before even the threat of deletion. This quote in my Decline message was nice: " If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted." However, I am not understanding the minimum criteria. If I had one more reference that met the standards you talked about, would it then be approved or do I need 2 or 3? I know there's not a hard number, but there must be a general consensus on what could put this over the line, and into the article space I've heard about? I think giving birth to the person who gave birth to Germany's best poet is noteworthy. I have tried reading that but it was difficult to pin down, and I'm looking for a bit of guidance and clarification. I've already read it, and still don't know this... if I can establish notability, how many reliable references do you see as approvable, to be an Article? You will need to find multiple sources that discuss him in detail specifically, not just in passing as Goethe's parent. The amount of sources is not what matters, but the quality of sources. As well, his grandfather Friedrich Georg Goethe was a poetry teacher to him and great influence, in creating Germany's famous poet. That is how he is notable. Draft review Tail latency

Hello Padgriffin, Thank you for reviewing my draft on "Tail Latency." I fully understand the concerns about notability. I think this topic is very important because it affects:

• High-frequency trading systems
• System reliability and performance
• How we measure and compare system performance

Many people don't fully understand how tail latency impacts system design, even though it's crucial for many applications. I encounter situations at my workplace where this is a problem.

I will spend this weekend researching more academic sources and real-world examples to better support the article's notability.

January–February 2026 Backlog Drive | New pages patrol
New Pages Patrol is hosting a one-time, two-month experimental backlog drive aimed at reducing the backlog. This will be a combo drive: both articles and redirects will earn points. The drive will run from 1 January to 28 February 2026. The drive is divided into two phases. Participants may take part in either phase or across both phases, depending on availability. Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled during the drive. Two-month drive-exclusive barnstars will be awarded to eligible participants. Heya, I took a look at the Michel Barsoum page and I agree he is a very easy pass of NPROF so I tried my best to make the article less COI-ish. I think User:Bearian made a good point with the 2nd PROD- there are basically no independent sources available for this BLP and the subject, or someone connected to the subject has, in my opinion, been paying for UPE editing and promo on Wikipedia, given that three different UPE rings have been involved on it at this point. I realize that the creator of the article created a bunch of short biographies of Korean businessmen of uncertain notability, but I think Seo Jung-wook passes. Pardon the objection. You were right to act as you did on this article when you did, as it did not have any sources cited at the time and the burden is on us. I wasn't the one who made it, but had noticed it and planned to make it at least acceptable for Wikipedia later on. You just got to it first. Does it absolutely have to go through Articles for Creation, or can it be bypassed? It is fairly obvious that the subject is notable, as he has played a major-league game and there are several sources that can be (and have been) used to populate the article. Alternatively, perhaps you could just pass the AFC I submitted it for. The original article you sent to draft space was, while not protocol, a placeholder. mftp dan ^oops 16:17, 6 February 2026 (UTC)

I've approved it through AFC. Generally I just recommend against having obvious placeholders in mainspace, especially for BLPs, and I draftified it as it hadn't been edited for multiple hours. Please think before draftifying

I have just reversed your draftification of Richard A. Mathies. It does not make sense to draftify an article, particularly of academics, just because of UPE if it has already been checked and OK'd by experienced NPR editors in the relevant area. If the page is OK it should be left. It is pointless to draftify, who would improve it? Send to AfD if you feel the need, but both this and the earlier one I am 99.9% would by '''Speedy Keep'''. Backlog update

At the time of this message, there are 15,282 articles and 32,951 redirects awaiting review.

After the January–February drive the article backlog was reduced to 15,179 articles and the redirect backlog to 19,053 respectively. Great job! However, both queues are growing rapidly and any additional reviews are highly appreciated.

2024 and 2025 NPP Awards

JTtheOG was selected as the NPP reviewer of the year for both 2024 and 2025, for reviewing the most articles amongst all reviewers.

Hey man im josh and MPGuy2824 won the Redirect Ninja Master Award for 2024 and 2025 respectively, for reviewing the most redirects.

Overall in 2024, one Platinum, two Gold, eight Silver, 12 Bronze and 45 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 66 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year. In 2025, one Platinum, ten Silver, 13 Bronze and 38 Iron Barnstars were awarded. Additionally, 38 reviewers got the NPP barnstar for doing more than 100 reviews through the year.

BoyTheKingCanDance, Rosiestep, SunDawn, and Vanderwaalforces were inducted into the NPP Hall of Fame for having two separate years of 2,000+ article reviews.

January–February backlog drive

The experimental two-month long backlog drive concluded with 183 reviewers patrolling over 27,761 articles and 35,309 redirects, earning over 36,836 points. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 6,484.6 points in this drive.

May backlog drive

I have my views on the topic but the topic has obviously gotten out of hand (even before I got there) and I’m probably going to step back from it to avoid wasting time on wiki drama while on holiday, and trying to track conversations and form arguments on mobile is a horrible experience. I was literally on my way to leave my thoughts on the new image carousel before noticing it and had problems with the rationales presented, but sometimes this is how it goes. The article is controversial in nature, (as it involves a children’s cartoon being turned into pornographic content), and that some WP:♥ to the involved editors was in order. Have a good holiday. Articles for Creation backlog drive

New pages patrol September 2026 Backlog drive

September 2026 Backlog Drive | New pages patrol
On 1 September 2026, a one-month backlog drive for new pages patrol will begin at a particularly important time for NPP. The backlog has now passed 30,000 unreviewed articles, a level that has been described in current NPP discussions as exceptionally high and potentially difficult to overcome through normal reviewing alone. Backlog drives are one of the few measures that have historically produced a noticeable reduction in the backlog, so the participation of as many active patrollers as possible will matter this month. If you can review during September, please make articles your priority. Every article that is reviewed is a meaningful reduction in the backlog. With the queue at its current size, even a relatively small increase in the number of articles each patroller reviews can add up to a substantial difference over the course of the month. This is a hybrid drive, so redirect reviewing is still included. Redirects can be a useful way for newer patrollers to get comfortable with NPP and can help people build up to reviewing articles. However, the main goal of this drive is to tackle the article backlog, and experienced patrollers are particularly encouraged to spend as much of their available reviewing time on articles as they can. Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Each article review will earn 1 point, while each redirect review will earn 0.2 points. Streak awards will be given out based on consistently hitting point thresholds for each week of the drive. Barnstars will also be granted for re-reviewing articles previously reviewed by other patrollers during the drive. If you have been thinking about doing more NPP, this is an especially good month to jump in. Whether you can review a few pages or hundreds, every review helps. @Whpq: the tag I placed on it was to make way for a move- the article got moved to WP Space and I shoved it into draft space as someone else had inserted a load of… I likely AI generated text? I see in the history that your original speedy deletion request was modified. I can the original was "Round robin move to move article back into place- contents are also gibberish". Redirects from round-robin moves can be handled via G6, but this is actual content. It isn't gibberish based on my reading of WP:G1. It looks like the outline of some sort of fan fiction. It's crap, but being crap is not a reason to remove it from draft space. -- Whpq (talk) 21:22, 11 September 2026 (UTC)
