Redirects for discussion (RfD) is the place where potentially problematic redirects are discussed. Items usually stay listed for a week or so, after which they are deleted, kept, or retargeted.

  • If you want to replace an unprotected redirect with an article, do not list it here. Turning redirects into articles is wholly encouraged. Be bold!
  • If you want to move a page but a redirect is in the way, do not list it here. For non-controversial cases, place a technical request; if a discussion is required, then start a requested move.
  • If you think a redirect points to the wrong target article, this is a good place to discuss the proper target.
  • Redirects should not be deleted just because they have no incoming links. Please do not use this as the only reason to delete a redirect. However, redirects that do have incoming links are sometimes deleted, so that is not a sufficient condition for keeping. (See § When to delete a redirect for more information.)

Please do not unilaterally rename or change the target of a redirect while it is under discussion. This adds unnecessary complication to the discussion for participants and closers.

Current and past redirects for discussion (RfD) discussions

[edit]

Current discussions

[edit]

Redirects that have been nominated for discussion are indexed by the day on which they were first listed.

Old discussions

[edit]

After 7 days, nominations that have finished their discussion period are eligible to be closed following the deletion process.

Before listing a redirect for discussion

[edit]

Please be aware of these general policies, which apply here as elsewhere:

The guiding principles of RfD

[edit]
  • The purpose of a good redirect is to eliminate the possibility that readers will find themselves staring blankly at "Search results 110 out of 378" instead of the article they were looking for. If someone could plausibly enter the redirect's name when searching for the target article, it's a good redirect.
  • Redirects are cheap. They take up little storage space and use very little bandwidth. It doesn't really hurt things if there are a few of them scattered around. On the flip side, deleting redirects is also cheap because recording the deletion takes up little storage space and uses very little bandwidth. There is no harm in deleting problematic redirects.
  • If a good-faith RfD nomination proposes to delete a redirect and has no discussion after at least 7 days, the default result is delete.
  • Redirects nominated in contravention of Wikipedia:Redirect will be speedily kept.
  • RfD can also serve as a central discussion forum for debates about which page a redirect should target. In cases where retargeting the redirect could be considered controversial, it is advisable to leave a notice on the talk page of the redirect's current target page or the proposed target page to refer readers to the redirect's nomination to allow input and help form consensus for the redirect's target.
  • Requests for deletion of redirects from one page's talk page to another's do not need to be listed here. Anyone can remove the redirect by blanking the page. The G6 criterion for speedy deletion may be appropriate.
  • In discussions, always ask yourself whether or not a redirect would be helpful to the reader.

When to delete a redirect

[edit]

The major reasons why deletion of redirects is harmful are:

  • a redirect may contain non-trivial edit history;
  • if a redirect is reasonably old (or is the result of moving a page that has been there for quite some time), then it is possible that its deletion will break incoming links (such as links coming from older revisions of Wikipedia pages, from edit summaries, from other Wikimedia projects or from elsewhere on the internet, do not show up in "What links here").

Therefore consider the deletion only of either harmful redirects or of recent ones.

Reasons for deleting

[edit]

You might want to delete a redirect if one or more of the following conditions is met:

  1. The redirect page makes it unreasonably difficult for users to locate similarly named articles via the search engine. For example, if the user searches for "New Articles", and is redirected to a disambiguation page for "Articles" (itself a redirect to "Article"), it would take much longer to get to the newly added articles on Wikipedia.
  2. The redirect might cause confusion. For example, if "Adam B. Smith" was redirected to "Andrew B. Smith", because Andrew was accidentally called Adam in one source, this could cause confusion with the article on Adam Smith, so the redirect should be deleted.
  3. The redirect is offensive or abusive, such as redirecting "Joe Bloggs is a Loser" to "Joe Bloggs" (unless "Joe Bloggs is a Loser" is legitimately discussed in the article), or "Joe Bloggs" to "Loser". (Speedy deletion criterion G10 and G3 may apply.) See also § Neutrality of redirects.
  4. The redirect constitutes self-promotion or spam. (Speedy deletion criterion G11 may apply.)
  5. The redirect makes no sense, such as redirecting "Apple" to "Banana". (Speedy deletion criterion G1 may apply.)
  6. It is a cross-namespace redirect out of article space, such as one pointing into the User or Wikipedia namespace. The major exception to this rule are the pseudo-namespace shortcut redirects, which technically are in the main article space. Some long-standing cross-namespace redirects are also kept because of their long-standing history and potential usefulness. "MOS:" redirects, for example, were an exception to this rule until they became their own namespace in 2024. (Note also the existence of namespace aliases such as WP:. Speedy deletion criterion R2 may apply if the target namespace is something other than Category:, Template:, Wikipedia:, Help:, or Portal:.)
  7. If the redirect is broken, meaning it redirects to an article that does not exist, it can be immediately deleted under speedy deletion criterion G8. You should check that there is not an alternative place it could be appropriately redirected to first and that it has not become broken through vandalism.
  8. If the redirect is a novel or very obscure synonym for an article name that is not mentioned in the target, it is unlikely to be useful. In particular, redirects in a language other than English to a page whose subject is unrelated to that language (or a culture that speaks that language) should generally not be created. (Implausible typos or misnomers are candidates for speedy deletion criterion R3, if recently created.) The message template may be useful.
  9. If the target article needs to be moved to the redirect title, but the redirect has been edited before and has a history of its own, then the title needs to be freed up to make way for the move. If the move is uncontroversial, tag the redirect for G6 speedy deletion, or alternatively (with the suppressredirect user right; available to page movers and admins), perform a round-robin move. If not, take the article to Requested moves.
  10. If the redirect could plausibly be expanded into an article, and the target article contains virtually no information on the subject.
  11. If the redirect ends in "(disambiguation)" but does not target a disambiguation page or a page performing a disambiguation-like function (such as a set index of articles). Speedy deletion criterion G14 may apply.

Reasons for not deleting

[edit]

However, avoid deleting such redirects if:

  1. They have a potentially useful page history, or an edit history that should be kept to comply with the licensing requirements for a copy or merge (see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and Wikipedia:Merge and delete). On the other hand, if the redirect was created by renaming a page with that name, and the page history just mentions the renaming, and for one of the reasons above you want to delete the page, copy the page history to the Talk page of the article it redirects to. The act of renaming is useful page history, and even more so if there has been discussion on the page name.
  2. They would aid accidental linking and make the creation of duplicate articles less likely, whether by redirecting a plural to a singular, by redirecting a frequent misspelling to a correct spelling, by redirecting a misnomer to a correct term, by redirecting to a synonym, etc. In other words, redirects with no incoming links are not candidates for deletion on those grounds because they are of benefit to the browsing user. Some extra vigilance by editors will be required to minimize the occurrence of those frequent misspellings in article text because the linkified misspellings will not appear as broken links; consider tagging the redirect with the R from misspelling template to assist editors in monitoring these misspellings.
  3. They aid searches on certain terms. For example, users who might see the "Keystone State" mentioned somewhere but do not know what that refers to will be able to find out at the Pennsylvania (target) article.
  4. Deleting redirects runs the risk of breaking incoming or internal links. For example, redirects resulting from page moves should not normally be deleted without good reason. Links that have existed for a significant length of time, including CamelCase links (e.g. WolVes) and old subpage links, should be retained in case there are any existing links on external pages pointing to them. Please tag these with R from old history. See also Wikipedia:Link rot § Link rot on non-Wikimedia sites.
  5. Someone finds them useful. Hint: If someone says they find a redirect useful, they probably do. You might not find it useful—this is not because the other person is being untruthful, but because you browse Wikipedia in different ways. Evidence of usage can be gauged by using the wikishark or pageviews tool on the redirect to see the number of views it gets.
  6. The redirect is to a closely related word form, such as a plural form to a singular form.

Neutrality of redirects

[edit]

Just as article titles using non-neutral language are permitted in some circumstances, so are such redirects. Because redirects are less visible to readers, more latitude is allowed in their names, therefore perceived lack of neutrality in redirect names is not a sufficient reason for their deletion. In most cases, non-neutral but verifiable redirects should point to neutrally titled articles about the subject of the term. Non-neutral redirects may be tagged with R from non-neutral name.

Non-neutral redirects are commonly created for three reasons:

  1. Articles that are created using non-neutral titles are routinely moved to a new neutral title, which leaves behind the old non-neutral title as a working redirect (e.g. ClimategateClimategateClimatic Research Unit email controversy).
  2. Articles created as POV forks may be deleted and replaced by a redirect pointing towards the article from which the fork originated (e.g. Barack Obama Muslim rumorBarack Obama Muslim rumor → deleted and now redirected to Barack Obama religion conspiracy theories).
  3. The subject matter of articles may be represented by some sources outside Wikipedia in non-neutral terms. Such terms are generally avoided in Wikipedia article titles, per the words to avoid guidelines and the general neutral point of view policy. For instance the non-neutral expression "AttorneygateAttorneygate" is used to redirect to the neutrally titled 2006 dismissal of U.S. attorneys. The article in question has never used that title, but the redirect was created to provide an alternative means of reaching it because a number of press reports use the term.

The exceptions to this rule are redirects that are not established terms and are unlikely to be useful, and therefore may be nominated for deletion, perhaps under deletion reason #3. However, if a redirect represents an established term that is used in multiple mainstream reliable sources, it should be kept even if non-neutral, as it will facilitate searches on such terms. Please keep in mind that RfD is not the place to resolve most editorial disputes.

Closing notes

[edit]

Nominations should remain open, per policy, about a week before they are closed, unless they meet the general criteria for speedy deletion, the criteria for speedy deletion of a redirect, or are not valid redirect discussion requests (e.g. are actually move requests).

How to list a redirect for discussion

[edit]
STEP I.
Tag the redirect(s).

  Enter at the very end of the page.

  • Please include in the edit summary the phrase:
    Nominated for RfD: see Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion.
  • Please do not mark the edit as minor (m).
  • Save the page ("Publish changes").
  • If you are unable to edit the redirect page because of protection, this step can be omitted, and after step 2 is completed, a request to add the RFD template can be put on the redirect's talk page.
  • If the redirect you are nominating is in template namespace, consider adding |showontransclusion=1 to the RfD tag so that people using the template redirect are aware of the nomination. If it is an inline template, use |showontransclusion=tiny instead.
  • If you are nominating multiple redirects as a group, repeat all the above steps for each redirect being nominated and specify on rfd the nomination's group heading from Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion
STEP II.
List the entry on RfD.

 Click here to edit the section of RfD for today's entries.

  • Enter this text below the date heading:
~~~~
  • For this template:
    • Put the redirect's name in place of RedirectName, put the target article's name in place of TargetArticle, and include a reason after text=.
    • Note that, for this step, the "target article" is the current target of the redirect (if you have a suggestion for a better target, include this in the text that you insert after text=).
  • Please use an edit summary such as:
    Nominating RedirectName
    (replacing RedirectName with the name of the redirect you are nominating).
  • To list multiple related redirects for discussion, use the following syntax. Repeat line 2 for N number of redirects:
~~~~
  • If the redirect has had previous RfDs, you can add previous RfD without brackets directly after the rfd2 template.
  • If appropriate, inform members of the most relevant WikiProjects through one or more "deletion sorting lists". Then add a template to the nomination, to insert a note that this has been done.
STEP III.
Notify users.

  It is generally considered good practice to notify the creator and main contributors of the redirect(s) that you nominate.

To find the main contributors, look in the page history of the respective redirect(s). For convenience, the template

~~~~
may be placed on the creator/main contributors' user talk page to provide notice of the discussion. Please replace RedirectName with the name of the respective creator/main contributors' redirect and use an edit summary such as:
Notice of redirect discussion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion.
Notices about the RfD discussion may also be left on relevant talk pages.
  • Please consider using What links here to locate other redirects that may be related to the one you are nominating. After going to the redirect target page and selecting "What links here" in the toolbox on the left side of your computer screen, select both "Hide transclusions" and "Hide links" filters to display the redirects to the redirect target page.
The only reliable sources connecting the name to the subject of the target article are a couple of local news outlets, which seems insufficiently widely published by reliable sources as per WP:BLPPRIVACY, especially given the subject's national fame. Therefore I propose deleting it as a BLP violation. ~Sangdeboeuf (talk) 22:18, 22 September 2026 (UTC) edited 02:48, 23 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Fifth tone
[edit]
A fifth tone would exist in 30-tone equal temperament, which we do not seem to have content on. The unhyphenated version could refer to Standard Chinese phonology#Neutral tone (and there is the letter Tone five). 1234qwer1234qwer4 21:34, 22 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Eighth tone
[edit]
Not mentioned at target nor at Varieties of equal temperament. 96 equal temperament contains this (sixteenth tone redirects there too), but 48-TET is only listed and eighth tones are not mentioned. The first of these could also refer to a linguistic tone such as at Pe̍h-ōe-jī#Tone markings. 1234qwer1234qwer4 21:30, 22 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Seventh-tone
[edit]
A seventh tone would exist in 42-tone equal temperament, which we do not seem to have content on. There is also a seventh tone in languages such as Pe̍h-ōe-jī#Tone markings, but that would be spelt without a hyphen. 1234qwer1234qwer4 21:18, 22 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Jukude language
[edit]
Not an attested name for the language, and deleted following prior RfD discussion 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 22:34, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Note: The previous RfD was very recent, but had no participation besides the nominator. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 22:52, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Keep. 14 mainspace pages link to that redirect. Possibly they predate the Jukude language -> Máku language page move in 2021. The Máku language page contains "Jukude" enough times I think it's plausible someone would search that way. I know nothing about this subject, but at the least I can't support deleting it while links to it are still in use. Here for the one billionth edit (talk) 22:59, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
It wouldn't be difficult to replace all those links if needed. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 23:17, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
It's not probable because the name Jukude applies only to the people, and never to the language. 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 01:25, 13 September 2026 (UTC)reply
External search results on Google, Google Scholar, and Google Books return no non-Wikipedia hits for "Jukude+language". Results for "Jukude" alone yields results that state that this word means "person, human" (eg. ). Rogers, 2001, states:
The speakers of this language referred to themselves as jukude-itse [zokude-itse] ‘people-PL’. It is commonplace to refer to the language as Máku in the linguistic literature, reserving the autonym, consequently, for the cultural group of speakers of this language.
If I understand rightly, -itse marks this word as referring to people, so maybe without the person marker suffix the word is the native word for the language. This redirect is linked to in several articles; maybe the references in one of them can provide evidence for usage of "Jukude language" off-Wikipedia? – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 23:13, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Usage looks to be predominantly in the form of lists. Ticuna–Yuri languages#Language contact and Languages of Brazil#Classification of languages as linguistic or cultural heritage have Portuguese references. Here for the one billionth edit (talk) 23:32, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
One of the pages, I've forgotten which, referenced ISBN 978-3-11-025513-3. It makes note "A number of languages have been called Makú, several of which have nothing to do with one another". So we must be careful not to get Máku language and Makú language muddled, as Ctrl+F can ignore diacritics. Here for the one billionth edit (talk) 23:52, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
@Scyrme The term "Jukude" is definitely not the native designation for the language. It is the designation for the people though. 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 01:22, 13 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Why "definitely"? You have sources that say so? – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 01:31, 13 September 2026 (UTC)reply
@Scyrme Check the grammars of the language and see if the name "Jukude" is used for the language. I couldn't find anything. 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 16:54, 13 September 2026 (UTC)reply
The closest I found using "Jukude" and not "jukude-itse" (people) was a German source. Note that I have only had success in accessing this link on mobile - desktop browsers just give me an "Access is temporarily restricted" screen - so you can try mobile or find it on another website (what I like about ResearchGate, when it lets me in, is it doesn't require login):
Kolonialitäten und tribale Zonen. Koch-Grünbergs Beziehungen im Feld während der Roraima-Orinoco-Expedition by Ernst Halbmayer (July 2023), Philipps University of Marburg
It reads: "Die Selbstbezeichnung der Gruppe war Jukudeitse und die Sprache Jukude." Which Google Translates to: "The group's self-designation was Jukudeitse, and the language was Jukude." Interestingly, it (or its quoted passages) seems to use the term "Máku" to refer to the people, contrary to the Máku language page:
Drei Porokotó und einen Máku haben er und seine Henkersknechte mit der Rifle erschossen.
He and his henchmen shot three Porokotó and one Máku with the rifle.
Wie Koch-Grünberg festhält: »Die Unterhaltung meiner Leute dreht sich jetzt beständig um die ›wilden Indianer‹, Waiká […], die diese Gegend gerade in der jetzigen Zeit gern zu Überfällen (um Mitternacht) auf die durchreisenden Majonggóng und Máku benutzen sollen« (VII: 10).
As Koch-Grünberg notes: "My men’s conversation now constantly revolves around the ‘wild Indians’—the Waiká […], who are said to favor this area, especially at the present time, for launching raids (at midnight) on the passing Majonggóng and Máku" (VII: 10).
Auch »mit den Arekuna, von denen einzelne bei den Yekuaná leben, kommen Misch-ehen vor; ebenso mit den Máku am Auari« (Koch-Grünberg 1923: 351).
"Mixed marriages also occur with the Arekuna—some of whom live among the Yekuaná—as well as with the Máku on the Auari" (Koch-Grünberg 1923: 351).
I don't know if I've actually contributed anything here, just that it passed the time. Either way, my view remains that if the term "Jukude" is in use and someone might reasonably search it or follow a link using it, we should keep this. Template:R from incorrect name can be used, or Template:R from alternative name if it is less certain that name is incorrect. Template:R from move may also be suitable, although, looking at the history closer, the page only lived there from 2020-12-24 to 2021-03-08.
Only tangentially related, that is interesting this language page's moves were driven by a single user from 2011 to literally today (UTC, yesterday in the Americas). I hope they partake in this discussion. Possibly there is no definitively correct name for this language. Another idea I've just had, is to check the other Wikipedia languages for references. They all start with "jukude", "jukudea", "yukude", or Язык юкуде (which apparently is also yukude). But I have not looked into where they may have got that name from. Here for the one billionth edit (talk) 18:59, 13 September 2026 (UTC)reply
@Here for the one billionth edit AFAIK Koch-Grünberg, who is being discussed here, only called the language "Máku". Here is his book which contains a vocabulary of it. Since the language is called "Jukude" here, I support keeping this but with the caveat of using R from incorrect name. The only name the language is otherwise called is "Máku" (though with some diacritical variation as "Makú, which is much more ambiguous). The other WP articles were probably moved by kwami per enWP usage rather than due to some reference present in the other WPs. 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 13:17, 14 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Elon Musk's submarine
[edit]
This redirect has an interesting history. The page at this title was an article for 11 days in August 2018 (a month after the actual cave rescue occurred), whereupon it was redirected to Elon Musk#Tham Luang cave rescue. After that, FWDekker retargeted it to Elon Musk#Tham Luang cave rescue and defamation case in 2020; Cewbot retargeted it to Elon Musk#Tham Luang cave rescue & defamation case in 2022 (which Tallungs reverted); I retargeted it to Tham Luang cave rescue in 2025. Last but not least, starting a few minutes earlier, today Moonraker12 tried four different targets: Elon Musk#Tham Luang cave rescue and defamation case, Legal affairs of Elon Musk#Tham Luang cave rescue and defamation case, Tham Luang cave rescue, and Tham Luang cave rescue#Elon Musk.
As that discussion reveals, we have three different articles on Wikipedia this redirect could possibly target where the submarine was mentioned - Elon Musk, Legal affairs of Elon Musk, and Tham Luang cave rescue - and no consensus on which one to send the reader to. Any thoughts? Duckmather (talk) 23:29, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Ralstonite
[edit]
As far as I can see on Google, "ralstonite" is mostly a reference to the mineral and not to the social movement. Likewise, the links from Wikipedia all refer to the mineral and not to the social movement, and one link was removed from Misti because it was pointing at the mineral but became a link to the impertinent social movement. I wouldn't count that YouTube video as a source. The same phrase is translated differently in other video titles, so these are probably LLM translations provided by YouTube: Hot Bro “Say Hi”, Hot Bros Say Hi, Brother Say Hi. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 18:23, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
I was also concerned these were automatic translations, however, regardless of where it came from, if a reader finds the video with that title they'll look up the show using that translation.
The redirect was newly created, it was created by a move, and there are still incoming links to the new title; these factors make it difficult to judge if people are actually searching this by looking at the traffic stats. Could be better renominate the redirect later if the traffic dies off and stays dead after the incoming links are updated post-move, rather than rushing to delete now on the assumption that no-one would find it helpful. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 00:30, 13 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Butu language (Central African Republic)
[edit]
I don't see any evidence that there is a language called "Butu" in the Central African Republic. Searching Ethnologue reveals that there is a language called "Butu", but it corresponds to the Gamo-Ningi language, which is in Nigeria, not CAR. Trying the Joshua Project or Glottolog reveals no matches. So I suggest deletion. Duckmather (talk) 04:16, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    Conspiracy theory??? It's just observing a sociological trend. You can find plenty of papers on Scholar discussing Western bias in journalism and the media. Maybe you find these views disagreeable, which is fine, but they generally come organically from academia and left-coded social criticism. Discussing Western bias in the media isn't fringe or some propaganda project of anti-Western regimes. Even Wikipedia has WP:Systemic bias, which notes a bias towards American and European (ie. Western) perspectives and a systemic underrepresentation of the Global South. Of-course it's just an essay, so not formally part of the guidelines and you may disagree with its analysis and interpretations, but it's not fringe nonsense. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 21:26, 22 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    I realised after writing this reply that the title could be read in two ways, but reading in the broader way just makes "conspiracy theory" an even stranger comparison. It's not fringe to suggest that Western media has at least some systemic biases. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 22:19, 22 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    This redirect does not say "Western media systemic bias", but "Western media bias", which is more loaded without qualification and suggests a deliberate attempt to manipulate the media. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 05:22, 23 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Delete for lack of anywhere helpful to actually redirect to. Looking at all the hits on Wikipedia for "Western bias", none of those pages stood out as good target. Media imperialism isn't the same topic. Eurocentrism (target of Western-centrism) has plenty of coverage of "Western" biases but has very little to say about the media or journalism. News mentions pro-corporate bias in Western media, but not pro-Western bias. Reading it as "[Western media] bias ("bias in Western media") rather than "Western [media bias]" ("media bias favouring the West") broadens the scope to any systemic biases in Western media. The natural target would be Western media, except the critiques of Western media given there does not (yet) include substantial coverage of systemic biases. Search results are probably the best option here until relevant coverage is added somewhere for either interpretation. The ambiguity in the scope of the title doesn't help with picking a target. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 22:06, 22 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Retarget to Glossary of 2020s slang#N, where the term is explained, at least in the short term. I think this serves readers better than retargeting to an article purely about advertising, particularly as the term is not even mentioned there. This is not specifically about advertising, although that is a part of it. In the longer term I think that there is maybe a 50% change that we will eventually have a valid article specifically about nostalgia bait (as a phenomenon) or nostalgia baiting (as a practice) in the future. If we let the glossary entry expand as required then it will become clear if and when that should happen. --DanielRigal (talk) 17:07, 21 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Sabarmati Junction (SBT) railway station
[edit]
This is a procedural nomination of behalf of ROLEXMEENA who attempted to RfD this in July but did not edit the daily RfD log. ROLEXMEENA created this as a self-reverted R from move, see Special:Diff/1363953523. Note that they're blocked for sockpuppetry, but this account is the sockmaster so WP:G5 doesn't apply. Maybe WP:G7, but it's unclear what they wanted. I know G7 isn't usually applied to page moves if the mover wasn't the only contributor to all pages, but this was a self-reverted move over redirect that lasted 18 minutes.
"SBT" is mentioned in the article for what it's worth, so seems plausible. So I don't think WP:G6 applies nor is this recently created for WP:R3. Fork99 (talk) 13:11, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
People don't even consistently use full stops on social media when talking to other humans, why would they do it for a search bar?
    I'm also not persuaded by the Censorship by Twitter suggestion. As far as I know, Twitter was mostly criticised for alledgedly censoring by shadowbanning or account suspensions rather than by deleting posts. Those are both topics mentioned at Censorship by X. Deleting individual posts in a censorious way isn't really mentioned at all. In fact the only time the article mentions deleting tweets is in a section about Russian pressure to do so, with Twitter's initial response instead being to selectively block accounts, only eventually removing content after Roskomnadzor kept up the pressure. Even if a reader was looking for this message in relation to censorship, contrary to Twitter's reputation (or at least my memory of it), the article offers nothing helpful. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 16:12, 22 September 2026 (UTC)reply
2-valued morphism
[edit]
Probably delete. The target is reasonable for 2-valued morphisms specifically in the category of Boolean algebras. I don't see any relevance to 2-valued morphisms generally, nor any reason to believe that as a search term or a link target it should be taken as understood that the category is Boolean algebras. It's true that Google searches currently give this meaning but I expect that's an artifact of the Wikipedia structure.
No one has said they actively want to keep it, not even the person who removed the PROD. Multiple variations of Trans Sahara slave trade
Keep most, as despite being made by a blocked editor a lot of these are uncontroversially reasonable spelling variations. It's trivial to find variation in hyphenation between "trans-saharan"/"sub-subsaharan" and "transsaharan"/"subsaharan" on Scholar and Google Books; redirects where this is the only difference are fine and are useful for both searches and internal linking. Variation between "Saharan" and "Sahara" also seems generally fine; eg. "trans-saharan slave trade" and "trans-sahara slave trade" both yield results on Google Books. Searching for "[the] Sahara slave trade" shows that the unprefixed "Sahara" is also plausible variation.
Delete redirects where the hyphen is replaced by a space, as I don't see much evidence that this is common in my external search results and this isn't conventional for English in general. Seems more like an SEO technique than plausible language.
Delete redirects which capitalise Sahara mid-word without a hyphen ("transSaharan", "subSaharan"). These are entirely unnecessary for searching (the search engine ignores case whenever possible and will redirect you even if no explicit redirect exists; try a search for TraNs-SaHaRan sLave trAde) and are worse than useless for linking as they're incorrect but appear in blue, making unintended use easier. I strongly suspect these titles reflect how sometimes hyphens get omitted in, eg, previews extracted from pages on Google Books, even when they're present on the actual page itself. This is something a machine would do. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 15:24, 22 September 2026 (UTC)reply
It's a plausible search term. I can type in "boobies" and click "Boobies (breasts)" and get to the right article. If it were deleted, I have to go to booby and then, using the hatnote, booby (disambiguation).   • Leaning keep as harmless, given that Boobies in fact points to a kind of bird. BD2412 T 16:06, 21 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Strong delete in the spirit of WP:X1. Absolutely beyond implausible. Someone would have to want to search for "boobies", but for fear that they'd sent to the article about the bird (which already has a hatnote to the dab page), they'd have to manually add in the disambiguator for the proper name. At which point, why wouldn't they have just searched for that in the first place? I mean, come on. Deacon Vorbis (carbon  videos) 16:29, 21 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Keep per BD2412. This is not a Neelix redirect so X1 is irrelevant. -- Tavix (talk) 17:01, 21 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    It might as well be. I think I've pretty well demonstrated how utterly useless this is, while "harmless" isn't really a valid reason to keep. You need to demonstrate some plausible utility too, and no reasonable person can argue that. Deacon Vorbis (carbon  videos) 17:21, 21 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Keep – This sounds like a call for an RFC to remove any and all parenthetical disambiguators. Until such a time, this is as valid a search term as any other. When I type in "boobies", three article entries appear: the bird, this topic, and some bracelets. You do not need to type in a disambiguator.. wiki gives it to you.--☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 18:09, 21 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Keep: Some people find this useful and it's harmless. I don't see any benefit to deletion. Chess enjoyer (talk) 21:55, 21 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Lean keep. I'm sympathetic to Deacon Vorbis's point, but the all-time traffic since 2015 is >3,600 which shows that counter-intuitively it has seen some use. I suspect this traffic is partly explainable by it being linked somewhere as a a piped link or on a disambiguation page somewhere since the traffic noticeably falls off after January, 2023, when I assume the link(s) was(/were) removed. Even then, the traffic since 2023 is within the margin of error for what I would expect from an implausible redirect since 2015 not 2023, so I'm not convinced the traffic was driven entirely by old internal links that no longer exist. I'm inclined to agree with Chess enjoyer. People have used it before, maybe they'll use it again; what's the benefit to deleting? – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 14:44, 22 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Physical map
[edit]
Ambiguous term. I thought of a paper map, incoming links are split between the genomics meaning and the cartographical meaning (a map of the physical territory rather than political borders). Delete or disambig? There's a dab page in the history. See also Political map, which I am not bundling but which is similarly fuzzy. Rusalkii (talk) 22:42, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Retarget - I'm pretty familiar with map terminology, because I just re-wrote the map article (GA, now going thru FAC). The term "physical map" is very rarely used, so it certainly does not deserve an article. Many important sources do not mention it at all:
  • The Glossary of the Mapping Sciences published by American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing - has no mention of "physical map"
  • The ESRI GIS dictionary - has no mention of "physical map"
So what does (did) the term "physical map" designate? The History of Cartography (vol 6 "20th century") does mention it twice on page 107, where it has "...a gradual shift of emphasis from the general political and physical maps to topical maps including more demographic and environmental themes ...". See also p 51. It is clear from the usage in this source that a physical map focuses on topography and the physical surface of the earth, rather than man-made features, particularly political boundaries. Google, FWIW, agrees with that assessment. The modern term for a map that focuses on the physical features is topographic map.
Therefore, the best thing to do is to redirect physical map to topographic map. Noleander (talk) 00:00, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Not sure. Noleander's analysis does a good job of analysing solid sources, but when we're talking redirects, we also have to support casual usage that can't be documented, and I suspect that in that setting, "physical map" is used in contrast to electronic mapping, comparable to "snail mail" versus e-mail. (If anyone would study such terminology, it would likely be folklorists and linguists, not cartographers.) Most people will be aware of the existence of topographic maps, but most people will probably not expect this redirect to refer to them. I say "not sure" only because I don't know where we'd cover this sense; Electronic map redirects to Map. Nyttend (talk) 19:42, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Seems like a rather strange target. Just because a city is not in Europe doesn't mean that there isn't a name in English. English exonyms provides some non-European examples of city names that are different in English. Lists of cities would be more general, including English names based on endonyms, though on the English Wikipedia, any lists of cities would be presumed to list city names in English. Also, English cities redirects to City status in the United Kingdom, which doesn't list that many city names, but List of cities in the United Kingdom (of which List of cities in England redirects to) mentions that there are 55 cities in England. My primary topic by Google hits is the Zoid, followed by assorted miscellany. There is also the unrelated wikt:malder. However, after digging into all this information (it’ll all be in the book I’m trying to so…reassure me you’ll buy a copy to learn more), it turns out my real dad was from Irish stock. Hence, I wanted an Irish name and Caragh means “friend” or “beloved” in Gaelic. Iguan
[edit]
We have no content on the Zoid (see Unamed Zoids characters below for context). Our results are mostly for Koni Iguan, though there is also Iguan Dao, a redirect. Google hits are a mix of the Zoid, iguanas, and random things named Iguan; Koni Iguan doesn't come up at least when searching on a device set to English. The only natural redirect topic onwiki is Koni Iguan, so I think I prefer retarget > delete > dab, but I'm unsure enough about retargetting this that I'm sending it to RfD instead of doing it unilaterally. Felix Felicis
Fictional potion not longer mentioned at target, with too many passing mentions elsewhere for a retarget option, therefore I suggest a deletion to favour search results. These include real-world songs and a band named after the potion. I suppose this is most strongly associated with the plot of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Note Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Felix Felicis closed as redirect to Magic in Harry Potter in 2007, but the closing admin completed the redirect close without a merge. Magic in Harry Potter itself was merged to the current target in April 2026. I'm not sure when Magic in Harry Potter's mention was removed as it was not present in the diff of its AfD merge notice. The pre-BLAR content was sourced solely to the primary sources, lasting 2 years from 2005. Also note there's no Liquid Luck or Liquid luck (alternative in-universe name). Tiger cat
[edit]
I propose that this redirect be retargeted to Tigercat (disambiguation). "Tiger cat" could refer to the northern tiger cat, southern tiger cat, eastern tiger cat, or the newly discoverd species Tilcayo. Having the redirect target to Oncilla has the potential to cause confusion, as demonstrated by this revert of an edit I made. Alternatively, Tiger cat (disambiguation) could be converted into its own dab page, where all the tiger cat species could be mentioned. LightNightLights also suggested potentially converting tiger cat into a broad-concept article. I'm no expert in taxonomy, so I'm open to suggestions from editors who know more about the subject. Zeibgeist (talk) 17:32, 19 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • It looks to me that the oncilla is only one of the many species partially named "tiger cat". Our article does not even use the unqualified two-word phrase "tiger cat" to refer to the oncilla.
  • Tiger quoll uses that phrase, but since others also use the phrase "tiger cat" to describe the newly-identified tilcayo, I am not that convinced that we should re-target to "Tiger quoll".
  • This is not strong evidence, but wikt:tiger cat defines the phrase as at least four different species, suggesting that we should re-target to a disambiguation page.
  • I am the one who reverted Zeibgeist. I also talked with them in my user talk page.
  • As a response, I created the page Tiger cats as a redirect to Tigercat (disambiguation) yesterday. I am perfectly fine with others also discussing that redirect.
  • I also support creating a BCA at Tiger cat, but I do not want to give others work that, due to private matters, I likely would not be able to help with.
  • Noting the comment on Tavix's talk page from Jay (talk · contribs): "All the links at the #New national teams section are for the under-19 teams, and that includes Serbia and Montenegro whose under-19 team is a redlink now." That's accurate for the bulleted list at that section. I should have been more specific: I was referring to the prose before that list, which indeed links to general country names, not sports teams of any sort. So I agree with his earlier comment that this is a content issue. My conclusion is still delete, though. Unanswered is the question of whether the country of Serbia and Montenegro ever had such a team. If it did, delete per WP:REDLINK. If it didn't, delete because it never existed. --BDD (talk) 20:29, 19 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    If it existed, which the target says it did, from 1992 to 2006, does it deserve an article, or is this redirect sufficient? If it didn't exist, and the target is wrong, the entry needs to be removed from the target, and this redirect deleted. However, there is an incoming link from FIBA Europe and I tried hard, but couldn't find where it is linked in that article. Jay 08:15, 21 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Runescape quest list
[edit]
I would like to delete these various RuneScape topics better found outside of Wikipedia. Quests are mentioned, and currency in relation to real-world trading. A few of those pages were originally created in attempts to write about RuneScape quests and currency, which is why I'm not keen on keeping them. The Red Axe started as some sort of joke page. Here for the one billionth edit (talk) 10:11, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Delete most. The Red Axe (Consortium) would fall under WP:CSD#G3 as a hoax/joke article and should've been tagged for speedy deletion not blanked and redirected. No reason not to delete.
A few others here also at some time had attempts at (non-hoax) articles, but these were all blanked and redirected so there's no merge history to worry about here. It's safe to delete all these.
However, I would say keep/refine Runescape quests to RuneScape § Gameplay, since this topic is still discussed there. No reason not to assist readers in finding content Wikipedia does have coverage for. (But delete the "list" redirect, as there is no list.) Delete all the rest due to lack of coverage to redirect to.
I did consider if Runescape currency could be kept as it is mentioned in RuneScape, but there's nothing substantial and the relevant content concerns other topics such as monetisation (via RuneCoins, one of several currencies) and anti-cheating policies. Readers looking for info specifically about the currencies themselves would not find what they're looking for, so the redirect isn't helpful. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 18:46, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Keep First of all, there is more SIGCOV than that. The article used a section from "You Died", which is a third-party book published by Tune & Fairweather analyzing Dark Souls. It's reliable significant coverage. The level is also featured in Dark Souls: Beyond the Grave, another third-party published reliable source. It's arguably standalone notable, and never went through an AfD process, just one user's personal opinion; I had just not bothered to continue expanding it.     No objection to the deletion of the redirect. Only for the record/if someone wants to replace the redirect with a proper article, Sakai was a prefecture (-ken), and was actually the most long-lived (or least short-lived) among no longer existing restoration-era prefectures: It existed from 1868 to 1881 (see ja:堺県 or Sakai Prefecture in the NICT Japanese Wiki Corpus; also for the Edo period/loose precursor, cf. Sakai bugyō, but any continuity is less direct than in other cases; unlike some other bugyō successors such as Yamada bugyō/Watarai-fu or Nagasaki bugyō/Nagasaki-fu, it was also never set up as a -fu, but was Sakai-ken from the beginning), at its peak it extended to roughly the Southern half of present-day Osaka and all of Nara until it was merged into Osaka in 1881. But the redirect to Sakai City is indeed off; cities of Japan didn't even exist as such before 1889 (their precursor -ku did, though, since 1878; Sakai-ku was initially part of Sakai-ken until the merger into Osaka). --Asakura Akira (talk) 15:48, 22 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Delete: This is a classic "sum of parts"; there is no part of Tokyo actually referred to as "downtown Tokyo", so the "downtown" is an adjective meaning "central". So a redirect is misleading. Similarly, central Tokyo is a redirect to something else (the 23 ku), a page which only includes the word "central" to refer to Ikebukuro as being in "north central Tokyo"; another misleading redirect. These redirects are obviously well intentioned, but not actually helping. I can't be bothered to check if "modern-day Tokyo" or "Tokyo, Japan", or "Tokyo, capital of Japan" redirects to Tokyo, but perhaps you get the point. Obviously some will want the WP:DIFFCAPS variant with all caps, but many of them will be aware of the capitalisation already, and the rest could be assisted by a simple hatnote in the target section.   • Comment - They were "removed" because you completely ignored the consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of alien races in DC Comics that only the entries that were notable, blue-linked entries should be merged. I just had to revert your improper merge again - you may disagree with the consensus at the AFD, but you do not get to arbitrarily ignore it. As for the Redirects in question, if they no longer point to an appropriate target, they should be deleted. This should not be used as a weird workaround to restore content that was previously determined to be non-notable. Rorshacma (talk) 17:09, 29 August 2026 (UTC)reply
    No, the AfD closure did not mandate the content at the target article and it cannot do that. That's not within the scope of AfD. Katzrockso (talk) 15:09, 19 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Black Mercy - keep per BDD. Martian (DC Comics) - White Martian and Martian Manhunter are articles, and the current target mentions both, the latter only in a template. Martian Manhunter is a Green Martian (It is also at RfD), but not the only one. I think White Martian will be a better target, as it describes well how Whites and Greens were connected, and has comparisons of both. Parademons - retarget to the New Gods section per Rtkat. Thanagarian - retarget to List_of_DC_Universe_locations#Thanagar, the target of Thanagar. Jay 11:42, 7 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    Well @Jay, that would be considered good targets until worthy sources can help them gain their own articles. The Parademons would've been the redirect to the New Gods of Apokolips section of New Gods. Rtkat3 (talk) 19:48, 14 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Will Dunn
[edit]
There are multiple people with this name including a writer and a sportsman, but none with articles. The William Dunn disambig doesn't consider "Will", so that won't be a suitable alternate target. Delete to favour search results.
This was an article though, for 10 days in 2011, before being BLAR'ed. We don't have a page with bios of Harry Potter cast members, so I don't see where the pre-BLAR content can be reused. Jay 13:44, 31 August 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Weak retarget to dab: "Will" isn't explicitly listed at the William page, but it's such a standard nickname that I expect some subset of them are referred to that way sometimes, and the page has "Willie" and similar variants. I was able to find a couple William "Will" Dunns with a quick search, though none notable. No strong objections to deletion, though. Rusalkii (talk) 18:56, 8 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Comment: I don't know which way to go.
  • Deleting lets Wikipedia go free without confusing or short articles. No one wants to read any of it since they think it's ridiculous.
  • Keeping it gives us the opportunity to expand it into an actual article. It's aiming directly at the purpose of Wikipedia. We need to have sources to do this.
  • Delete per Crouch, Swale and our handling of several similar redirects. Many current events end up being covered on Wikipedia but in general this is not a repository for such things. Many efforts like Wikinews and region-specific current events portals have been shut down over the years. Sending readers to Portal:Current events is way too broad and not a justifiable WP:XNR. An article on the year (2026 in the United States) is a fairly weak match for "current events" and thsi creates an ongoing maintenance burden, which will be substantial if this sets a precedent for other countries. List of years in the United States is an even less helpful target than the current year. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 19:53, 30 August 2026 (UTC)reply
"Redirect to married name" is not the same as "Redirect from married name", to which it was retargetted in 2022 by this edit. It was previously redirecting to "Redirect from alternative name". I wished to use this template on redirects from two earlier surnames of a person (best known by her married name) when it was not clear which had been her birth surname, but it makes no sense to use it when it is categorised as a redirect in the opposite direction. I suggest it should redirect either to "Redirect from former name" or (as previously) "Redirect from alt name". PamD 17:31, 9 August 2026 (UTC)reply
TSAR
[edit]
These redirects should point to the same target. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 11:13, 11 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Comment - Retargeting to SAR supergroup is my first instinct, but I notice this will create circular redirects on the SAR supergroup page. Someone with knowledge of the topic should confirm the intended destination of those TSAR links.
Here for the one billionth edit (talk) 11:59, 11 September 2026 (UTC)reply
I had the same thoughts. Neither article contains a lot of substantive coverage of TSAR but SAR supergroup is the logical place where this might be expanded. The brief mention at Diaphoretickes § Evolution just says that Telonemia [...] is sometimes resolved as the sister clade of the SAR supergroup, forming the hypothesized TSAR clade. That makes Diaphoretickes an improper target to discuss TSAR on the whole. The circular link at SAR supergroup can either be removed or it can be left as an acceptable circular redirect if editors think this has standalone article potential. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 14:07, 11 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Support retargeting TSAR to Diaphoretickes. TSAR includes groups that SAR does not, and is fully included in Diaphoretickes, the nearest parent clade. Furthermore, its validity is still unknown, as the 'T' often branches with Haptista instead of SAR. The Evolution section at Diaphoretickes covers this information. For these reasons, TSAR redirecting to Diaphoretickes is preferable, and is a surefire way to avoid misleading readers into thinking SAR and TSAR are equivalent. — Snoteleks (talk) 14:10, 11 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Ah, I see. I think I initially misread Diaphoretickes, and did not bother to look at the taxobox. I do think the information could be presented more clearly in the article. I've followed the TSAR discussion from afar and my (limited!) understanding is that it is disputed but still felt to be relevant enough to cover somewhere. This is a bit beyond the scope of RFD but I do think the coverage could be improved while still kept fairly succinct. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 14:15, 11 September 2026 (UTC)reply
@Myceteae Agreed that coverage should be improved. I have added some more bits of info at Telonemid and will try to add something at Diaphoretickes itself. — Snoteleks (talk) 14:37, 11 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Support. Jako96 (talk) 22:23, 11 September 2026 (UTC)reply
I agree with Snotelek that targeting the least inclusive group that contains TSAR is usually the best solution. But TSAR is sort of SAR sensu lato so might be a more natural place to discuss it. It's mentioned in the lede and the article could be reorganised to have a short section on TSAR that could be linked in the redirect. Likewise, Diaphoretickes could have a sections on TSAR/SAR and other component supergroups, but the article isn't organised that way. TSAR is mentioned but seems quite dismissive of the hypothesis. At the moment SAR seems a better target because the issue is addressed in the one paragraph lede.    Jts1882 | talk  14:39, 11 September 2026 (UTC)reply
This was part of the thinking that originally led me favor SAR supergroup. Either target is justifiable and the coverage could be improved in either location to better support these redirects. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 16:08, 11 September 2026 (UTC)reply
One solution would be to simply add Crimean Socialist Soviet Republic to the existing KSSR dab page and retarget both of these there. That might be too outside the box for the dab page guidelines. Another option is to convert the Cyrillic КССР to a separate dab page listing these three SSRs and retarget the Latin KCCP there. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 00:57, 19 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    I relisted this discussion because it hadn't been closed or relisted after seven days like discussions normally are and should be. PK2 (talk; contributions) 01:25, 1 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Delete. There is absolutely no substantial content at the target, which simply identifies a symbol (epsilon) as representing a counit. It doesn't provide a definition for unfamiliar readers nor any further information for familiar readers. Counit (category theory) should be deleted for the same reason, since its target uses "units" and "counits" to define something else rather than discussing counits in themselves; all the target really says about counits is that the terminology comes from universal algebra, which suggests the terminology here is not actually ambiguous, it's just being applied in different contexts. Unhelpfully, universal algebra doesn't even mention this terminology. These redirects aren't any more helpful than the search results, which show similar passing mentions in other articles. This is evidently a gap in Wikipedia's coverage; Returning to red would encourage editors to fill that gap. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 20:53, 1 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    If not deleted, then I would suggest retargetting to Tensor algebra § Counit, which seems to actually define what a "counit" is. However, the description there is highly technical so honestly I'm not entirely certain how helpful it would be as target.
    It may be helpful to notify WP:WikiProject Mathematics of this discussion to get the attention of editors with relevant expertise. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 21:01, 1 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    That article does not define what a 'counit' is but defines the counit that is used to endow the tensor algebra in particular with a coalgebra structure. 1234qwer1234qwer4 10:06, 11 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    "A counit" or counits are not defined in themselves; it is the terminology used for part of the data given by a coalgebra or an adjunction, respectively. In the same way as object (category theory) redirects to the definition of a category, since that is the term used for the points/elements in a category. 1234qwer1234qwer4 10:04, 11 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Comment. A disambiguation is possible I suppose, but it seems to me that the primary concept is already the counit of a coalgebra. Deletion is a bad idea; this is a real term that appears in many sources, and will likely be confusing to many readers who will look to Wikipedia for information about it. The current redirect is perhaps not perfect, but it seems to me that the best alternative is to improve the target article rather than making Wikipedia less functional by deleting the redirect.     Comment: I don’t think this is necessarily an incorrect capitalization. If you look at the original paper (the archived version linked in the article) you can see that the title is stylized as “Gorillas in our midst: sustained inattentional blindness for dynamic events”.
    Also the article definitely mentions the exact work described in the paper, even if it doesn’t mention it by that name. I’m not sure if this actually affects whether the redirect is valid, but thought it should be pointed out. ExitTheWarrior (talk) 12:18, 19 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Google returns an assisted living residence in Caistor. It was only at this title for around 11 minutes in 2022. If both of these had articles it should then point back to the DAB page Glebe House but since we don't even have Listed buildings in Coleby, North Kesteven and Listed buildings in Barton, Lincolnshire it can't go back to the DAB, if these articles get created in the future the redirect can be restored and targeted to the DAB. Mpox vaccine
[edit]
I'm tempted to retarget this to Mpox#Vaccine, but it was recently changed to its current target so I am nominating instead. On one hand, all currently available mpox vaccines are indeed smallpox vaccines. The Smallpox vaccine article does contain a significant amount coverage of mpox vaccination specifically as well as detailed summaries of the individual products. On the other hand, Mpox#Vaccine provides a more concise summary all in one place. I find Mpox#Vaccine more focused and reader friendly. It contains appropriate wikilinks and could be expanded with details found in various parts of Smallpox vaccine. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 16:44, 18 September 2026 (UTC)reply
@Robertpedley, I was planning to withdraw this. Technically I can't do this if anyone has expressed an opinion other than 'keep' but BD2412's draft renders this discussion moot since anyone can convert a redirect to an article at any time. My aim with this proposal was to direct readers to the place where there is focused mpox vaccine coverage in one place. A dedicated article that consolidates, updates, and expands coverage that is currently spread over multiple pages achieves this much better than maintaining a redirect to any of the current articles. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 20:58, 18 September 2026 (UTC)reply
I'm weakly in favor of a soft redirect to the Wictionary entry as well. A quick search and source seem to most commonly refer to a specific storm that happened on April 15, 1999. Since there was a tornado with a fatality, it could warrant a section at Tornadoes of 1999, though I also found mention of one in 2003. TornadoLGS (talk) 05:02, 10 September 2026 (UTC)reply
There's a section of an article for that: Tornadoes of 2003#July 21. ZFT (talk) 23:14, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Delete The Tornadocane and weak soft redirect Tornadocane to wikt:tornadocane. Title case The Tornadocane would seem to refer to a specific event which is not described as such on en-wiki. Tornadocane has no incoming links from articles but it averages 4 hits/month (range: 1–8 over the prior 12 months), indicating fairly consistent low-level search interest. I'm not a big fan of Wiktionary redirects but this is a reasonable alternative to deletion in this case. It doesn't seem, per the discussion above, that WP:RETURNTORED applies here although it is possible that a brief definition/description could be added somewhere. This/these can always be recreated/retargeted in the event that suitable content is added somewhere on-wiki. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 20:07, 13 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Redirects to Major and minor
[edit]
None are mentioned at target, but I believe that these are all Romance language words. I find it plausible there might be affinity with music, especially French and Italian, per WP:FORRED, but these aren't mentioned anywhere and are a hassle for false friends/false cognates, as I've just discovered when searching for Minore (which I'm boldly turning into a disambiguation page instead), while looking for Minore, New South Wales. I find it unlikely an English speaker will misspell "major" or "minor" as any of these. Also, Mineur (surname) should be moved to Mineur and add a mention of Mineur (crater). Fork99 (talk) 09:46, 18 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Let’s hope that this won’t become a WP:TRAINWRECK but here is my vote:
  • Listify as appropriate (as creator of at least some). Yes, they are all translations of major or minor in European languages, and as such in classical music often appear in titles, musical instructions, and such. For that reason they are typically included in music encyclopedias (as redirects), and were once on the Wikipedia:Music encyclopedia topics lists (which is why I created them). But certainly no need to prioritize that meaning to surnames or other uses which are likely more common; in fact as a disambiguation page they are better since the explanation could be clearer than a simple redirect. MOS:OVERCITE
[edit]
Despite this being a "MOS:" shortcut link, it does not lead to a Manual of Style subpage, nor any editing guideline; rather, it leads to an essay about citations, which may come off as misleading to other readers. In addition, the Manual of Style doesn't appear to cover this concept, so I would suggest deleting the redirect. Since WP:OVERCITE already exists as a valid shortcut link, deleting it MOS:OVERCITE should not cause any problems. LazyLune (talk edits) 23:20, 17 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    I think it's worth having eyes on both types, since we don't mention the term on Fairy either. There is a brief entry at List of legendary creatures (A). We could have a separate discussion--my point is just as things stand, the (fae) etc. redirects are also ripe for RfD. --BDD (talk) 17:29, 17 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Comment. I just noticed that while most of these have little traffic, atomy has a lot of traffic. The all-time total is >65,000 since 2015. I somehow doubt this due to readers looking for an obscure, very archaic word meaning either skeleton or mote (or, apparently, also fairy according to these redirects). I think there's something we're overlooking here.
    A quick external search for "Atomy" overwhelmingly brings up a South Korean brand/chain called 'Atomy' in English. There seems to be no coverage here on ~enwiki, but it does have an article on ~kowiki: Atomy [ko]. I'm still undecided, but my intuition is there's a WP:RETURNTORED situation here. I'm unsure if there are other meanings of the word that we're missing which would explain the high traffic. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 17:12, 17 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Not sure how that would help. That article in the history is still about diminutive fairies or fairy-like beings (in Shakespeare), whereas I think the traffic is coming from various sources including possibly for the South Korean multinational company which appears to be a notable gap in coverage. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 18:10, 17 September 2026 (UTC)reply
I have repaired the attribution from a merge to Hogwarts subjects via a dummy edit attributing the creator and the second revision by a different user.   • Delete. No idea about the current target. Top results for just "C7m" by itself are dominated by pages about an MSI laptop.
    When searched with music-related keywords ('chord', 'guitar', 'jazz') I was able to find many examples of C7M (major chord), which in the pages I saw was contrasted with Cm7 (minor chord). I don't agree that the online references to it are mistaken. It seems just be an informal conventional among jazz musicians, probably to more clearly differentiate the abbreviations by sight. Examples also appear in Google Scholar and Google Books results so evidently it also appears in publications not just online. The same convention is used for other chord, E7M, D7M, etc. A lot of the Google Scholar results were in Portuguese or mentioned Brazil, so this convention may be more common there.
    I don't think treating this redirect as a synonym for C7M is appropriate; the music-related pages I saw consistently used a capital M (WP:SMALLDETAILS), and music doesn't dominate the search results so I don't think we can assume what readers would be searching for here. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 20:55, 22 September 2026 (UTC)reply
There are no reliable sources suggesting that "Backrooms characters" is a defined group that is specific to the film or to the web series. Linking to one or the other would imply that that's the list of characters, so to speak.   • delete as extremely vague even from the title. no list seems to have existed, and what can be defined as "a character" in the "backrooms" is subject to a lot of possible interpretations that all veer into fancruft territory, the least crufty being "are we talking about the backrooms themselves or media related to them in general?", with "do we include the reddit thread about the throngler and scrindonguloder?" at the cruftiest end, and "what about the poolrooms?" somewhere in between
if a list does end up existing eventually, it'll obviously require a disambiguator to match the thing it's a list of characters of, so this will serve no purpose then either consarn (talk beige) (count ribs) 17:53, 17 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Keep there is currently a list being worked on at Draft: List of Backrooms characters. The franchise is expanding and there will be need for a list. Redirect is mostly a place holder while the draft is being finished. I don’t want someone to start a list in the mainspace, when there is already a draft in draft space. That’s what happened with the article Kane Parsons. There was already a draft that preceded it called Draft:Kane Pixels, but someone later made the current version in mainspace without checking draftspace first. Then the draft was useless after that and turned into a redirect. I don’t want a repeat of that. There are also reliable secondary sources available for the characters in the film and web series, I will add those later. There is no harm in keeping the redirect. Tom Tipper
[edit]
No information about this character at the target. There are mentions in other articles though I do not see any as an ideal primary target. There are mentions of a Tom Tipper / Thomas Tipper at Beer in Sussex and Music of Sussex about a Newhaven brewer on whom a song was also written. Delete to favour search results. I thought about a disambig, but could not come up with an entry for the brewer.
This was an unsourced 2-paragraph stub that lasted from 2005 to 2006. It was merged to its then target, but trimmed over time, and subsequently removed, before it became a redirect itself. No reason to provide attribution. Jay 07:09, 8 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Keep - I re-added Tom Tipper to the target article. Based upon the diff you provided, I do not see any reason for the character's removal from the list, and so I conclude that it was done accidentally (after all, the edit was meant to add other minor characters to the list). Accordingly, I think the redirect is now sensible. I do not think the other mentions of Tom Tipper are significant enough to warrant a DAB or hatnote. ‡ El cid, el campeador talk 18:15, 9 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Keep. The label has almost 300 releases and has signed other artists besides Cornelius; not only should it be covered on Cornelius's page more expansively, but it might be worthy of restoration as an article. This was probably thoughtlessly redirected when it should have been merged, like so much other record label content. Chubbles (talk) 11:42, 17 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    @Chubbles would you be willing to convert it back to an article then? If there's a valid article that's fine, but I don't think it's appropriate for a redirect or merge target because the label is a separate entity from Cornelius (he didn't found it or anything, he was just signed to it). The currently existing redirect doesn't help anyone because all they learn from Cornelius' page is that some of his albums came out on that label. You could learn that from Discogs or anywhere else, but Wikipedia is dedicated to substantial biographical information, not facts better suited to a database. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 22:21, 18 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    From what I can tell, Cornelius founded the label, but it may well be worthy of a separate article that I will not be able to contribute to in the next several days (I am traveling). I see no reason that a merge couldn't happen here as well. Chubbles (talk) 23:44, 18 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Katniss
[edit]
Katniss Everdeen is the clear primary topic. Page views for Katniss Everdeen vastly outweigh views for Sagittaria (see the graph), even before taking into account that "katniss" is just one of many alternative names for Sagittaria. 🦬 Beefaloe 🦬 (talk) 07:44, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Oppose: Katniss isn't just one of the alternative names, but one which is used multiple times in the page. Search results for "katniss" produce the character second, so anyone searching for that can easily find what they're looking for, and even if they happen to land on the plant's article anyway, the hatnote is sufficient. Unsurprising that the page views weigh in favor of a fictional character from a popular franchise over a random plant species, but that shouldn't be the only determining factor when there's other value in keeping this redirect as is. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 08:53, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Keep per WP:SMALLDETAILS. The character has a last name, and anyone looking for information about that specifically should be reasonably expected to both know it, and include it in a search. If they don't know it, or they're just too lazy to enter it, the hatnote at the current target gets them there. I also don't buy the pageviews argument in a vacuum, since it doesn't tell us how many had to click through the hatnote instead. Deacon Vorbis (carbon  videos) 15:40, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    I don't agree that readers should be reasonably expected to ... include it in a search. That would be true if "Katniss" were a common given name, but it isn't (or wasn't until the books/films briefly made it a popular baby name). According to Ancestry.com, the name "Katniss" is a 21st-century creation, suggesting it wasn't ever used as a personal name prior to the publication of the Hunger Games. Ancestry.com isn't the most reliable source, but I wasn't able to find anything that contradicts this.
    Regardless, readers may reasonably think it was wholly made up for the books, like many names of fictional characters in sci-fi settings are, especially if they aren't aware of the plant or only know it by another name. In that context, it's reasonable for readers to expect the first name would be enough. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 00:07, 17 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Retarget to Katniss Everdeen with a hatnote to the plant. I agree the character is the primary topic.
    Regarding the pageviews, while it's true that it's difficult to tell how many of the views for Sagittaria were clicking through the hatnote, if you look at the all-time stats for Katniss itself, there's an obvious trend of gradual decline over time since 2015. The most plausible explanation for this is that the traffic for Katniss reflects the declining cultural relevance of the Hunger Games. I really doubt these stats are reflecting trends in interest for the plant. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 00:19, 17 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Keep: the Hunger Games character gets more page views, sure, but I fail to be convinced that she has enough long-term significance to be primary for her given name alone. And while this wasn't a common given name prior to the publication of the series, there are other potentially notable people with the name or nickname   and even an orca with a mention on wikipedia!  Preceding unsigned comment added by Rosbif73 (talkcontribs) 07:34, 17 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Keep and add a redirect hatnote for the drugs. I don't think a disambiguation page would be appropriate as "antitau"/"anti-tau" is only a partial title match for the tau inhibitor topic. Main page Google results are overwhelmingly for the antiparticle, but Google Scholar and Google Books bring up plenty of results for the drugs so a hatnote is warranted. Practically, a hatnote would be no worse than a disambiguation page for any readers looking for antitau drugs as they'd be 1 click away from what they're looking for in either case. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 00:36, 17 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Antitau and anti-tau should share the same target, namely the antiparticle. I don't think the hyphen makes a difference here. Delete. None of the entries at the disambiguation page have that name, and none of the people called 'Jon Key' mentioned in the nomination have articles to link there in its "see also" If any of them, like the politician, are notable this is a case of WP:RETURNTORED. The single passing mentions of "Jon Key" in the giant table at List of Harry Potter (film series) cast members and the table at List of Wizarding World cast members don't warrant a redirect or being listed at the disambiguation page. There are passing mentions of other people called "Jon Key" in various other articles (eg. Peter Sewally, Cambridge University Lightweight Rowing Club, 2012 Southend-on-Sea Borough Council election). It's best to let the search bar handle this, so these mentions can all be found rather than being hidden by the existence of the redirect. – Scyrme (talk/solidarity) 00:50, 17 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Assisting an offender
[edit]
While these two terms are very similar they have very different meanings (almost antonyms) such that I was very suprised (and a bit confused) to arrive at the target article. "Assisting an offender" (at least in UK law) is a criminal offence whereby a person intentionally helps another person avoid arrest or prosecution, knowing or believe the latter has commited a serious crime. An "assisting offender" is a convicted criminal who actively assists the authorities to prosecute another person. There are lots of mentions of the term in aritclespace, but the only actual content I've found about it so far is Criminal Law Act 1967#Part I – Felony and misdemeanour (scroll down to "Section 4"). With an anchor that might make a suitable target, but ideally we'd have something more specific. Thryduulf (talk) 10:41, 7 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Comment: The military occupation happen in 1940 and I think that article should be improved to describe events up to the annexation in greater detail. "Occupation of the Baltic states" is a more comprehensive article giving a better overall picture, but perhaps we shouldn't redirect there solely on this basis. I have some material on this subject, so maybe some day I'll expand that article. --Mindaur (talk) 08:34, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Soviet occupation of Estonia
[edit]
These should have the same target. Similar redirects for Lithuania redirect to Occupation of the Baltic states (while Soviet occupation of Latvia is a disambiguation page since there are separate articles for the 1940 and 1944 occupations). 1234qwer1234qwer4 01:47, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Keep, the term and it's relationship to the Stone Age is not made up but has been used by such sources as the 2021 book The Wood Age, How One Material Shaped the Whole of Human History, and the 2023 Discover magazine article "What Evidence is there for a Wood Age to Rival those of Stone-Bronze-and Iron?". Seems a valid redirect, and arguably may become a stand alone article at some point. Randy Kryn (talk) 02:38, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    It's not valid if there's no discussion of this as an idea at the target. Deacon Vorbis (carbon  videos) 02:49, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    This one seems obvious, as the term "Wood Age" describes the same era of prehistory as the Stone Age but isn't a household word because wood from that era has rotted away while stone artifacts are still extant. Editors have nominated so many of these things for deletion how about throwing this one back? The sources hopefully address your concern "whatever it even refers to exactly". Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 03:00, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    Redirect idea: Wood. The main argument against using 'Wood Age' as a redirect to 'Stone Age' is that it never ended and extends across all recognized ages - humanity has been within a Wood Age from the start and it cannot be placed within a certain time frame. This argument has merit, and even though the Stone Age comprises 99% of human existence, and may seem a logical redirect target, reliance on wood as an essential natural tool has never ended. All the more reason for the term to become a stand alone article at some point. Pinging Deacon Vorbis and BDD, does redirecting to Wood make sense given at least some good sources which use the term 'Wood Age'? Randy Kryn (talk) 15:50, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    Sorry, I actually really don't like that! Without anything relevant about the idea of the Wood Age, it would come across as extremely condescending. Imagine:
    Reader: "What's the Wood Age?"
    Wikipedia: "Oh, wood? Well, wood is a material from trees..."
    We can just about guarantee the reader will be confused and/or disappointed.
    If the Wood Age is meant to be synonymous with human history, we might consider Anthropocene, but it suffers from the same lack of mention as the other places I checked. --BDD (talk) 15:57, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
    I generally agree with this assessment, and I'll also add that this seems to be the idea/slogan/whatever of a single author, not widely accepted or used, so even a mention like "So-and-so proposes all of human history as a 'Wood Age'..." or some such would still be quite WP:UNDUE, especially since this doesn't seem to be so much an "Age" as we tend to think of them, but rather just a reminder of wood's importance as a material throughout all of human history. Deacon Vorbis (carbon  videos) 16:42, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Delete per nom. WP:REDLINK, as there's clearly something to do this, but it's not an idea we seem to discuss, and the current target asks readers to make a leap. I propose deleting this, because although there's some relevance to physical cosmology per the article linked in the edit summary , it's not mentioned on either page. The creator is globally blocked, so I haven't notified him. Canadachick (talk) 18:14, 15 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Comment: This term is mentioned in a few articles like Quenching (astronomy). In Infinity Galaxy it's linked to Starburst region, though the exact term isn't mentioned there. SevenSpheres (talk) 16:07, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
It shouldn't be deleted then. It should be redirected either to Starburst region or somewhere else. Canadachick (talk) 16:16, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Bowser's Castle
[edit]
Not sure what to do about this one. Neither target article seems to mention anything substantial about the subject of this redirect. In addition, the article Bowser also seems to not include specific information about the subject of this redirect in a way that would satisfy a reader researching this term. However, looks like this redirect had an article here that was WP:BLARed in 2008: . Steel1943 (talk) 12:10, 15 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. It shows up as a stage in Mario Kart 64 (and probably other MK games too), where there's a brief mention, but nothing substantial. Ditto as the final level of Super Mario World, and probably other Mario games too. I don't think we can keep these at either target, so lean delete unless anyone else has a better idea at least.   • delete, essentially as a sort of hacky way to return to red. bowser has had different castles in pretty much every piece of media since his debut and childhood, outright churning through them in some games (such as new soup), and his children tend to follow suit with castles of their own, so the term hardly narrows it down. if any one castle, set of castles, or the general concept manages to have some coverage found to at least warrant a mention (or even an article), it might then be a somewhat good idea to recreate this, but i haven't found anything specific or substantial enough at the moment consarn (talk beige) (count ribs) 15:55, 15 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Dry yeast
[edit]
Seems like this can refer both to active and inactive yeast. Could retarget to Yeast, though that provides less information. 1234qwer1234qwer4 21:10, 18 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Delete What is the purpose of redirects like these? I would think the most likely case is that someone wants to know about "dry yeast", perhaps having seen the phrase somewhere, and wonders whether dry yeast is really something special, rather than merely an SOP, yeast that happens to be dry. WP has no information that will help them. It does not have an article "Dry yeast", or possibly "Dry and wet yeast". So the most helpful response by WP would be to say "Sorry, we confess ignorance". Is anyone seriously suggesting that it helps to redirect somewhere, anywhere, so the readers can try to puzzle out for themselves what the answer to their original question was? Point both to the Baker's yeast article, which contains the term. That there isn't an article that provides extensive detail on the subject is not a rationale to not have a redirect. Katzrockso (talk) 03:41, 16 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Bulstrode (Thomas the Tank Engine)
[edit]
No information about this character at the target. There are minor mentions at two other articles - in the plot of a book Toby, Trucks and Trouble, and in an episode Thomas & Friends series 4, and I don't see either as an alternate or suitable target.
Bulstrode the barge was created first, in May 2005, as an unsourced 4-liner that lasted only 3 minutes before it was BLAR'ed. Bulstrode (Thomas the Tank Engine) created the following month, lasted an year, although it was an unsourced stub, and was BLAR'ed as well. Its then target already had a section that had been independently written, so this was not a merge. Delete in the absence of a suitable target. Jay 03:54, 7 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Update: An anon added a mention at the target yesterday. Although unsourced and with no blue links, I'm not tagging it with citation needed because most of that list page is unsourced anyway. Jay 13:33, 12 September 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Comment, the character is a minor antagonist who only appears in one episode in the original tv series from over 30 years ago. Do we need redirects for every one off character in a tv/book franchise that has around the same amount of minor characters as Pokemon species? The Thomas & Friends fictional universe is incredibly detailed, how much should be covered in a general purpose encyclopedia instead of the dedicated Thomas wikis (of which there are dozens)?. There has been a successive trend of more deletions around Thomas content over the years as WP:NFICTION has been revised. Ultimate Norman (talk) 12:19, 13 September 2026 (UTC)reply
